Ted Berger has spent the past decade engineering a brain implant that can re-create thoughts. The chip could remedy everything from Alzheimer’s to absent-mindedness—and reduce memory loss to nothing more than a computer glitch

Neat!

This, of course, would help me! I would love to have a brain chip that could repair my memory loss!

Humm...if it can re-create thoughts, what prevents it from creating new thoughts? Mind control?

That is one of the arguments I have read about it. (one that was voiced in the article) Having thoughts that aren't actually yours being created, or personality change. (it doesn't appear, on the face of it to lend itself easily to mind control) In any event, I am sure lots of testing would be required to make sure it was safe before it were allowed to be implanted into Alzheimer's patients.
