[:o] ... with a happy ending! [lol]

This is also a true story.
I had read about the numerous possible benefits of resveratrol for a few years now, but never got into any serious kind of aggressive supplementation until the breaking news stories out this past year and late last year. I came across an article about Biotest's Rez-V product advertised for 100mg highly pure resveratrol per tablet. It is also advertised towards the bodybuilder as a anti-estrogen. Now dosing this at the levels needed to replicate the animal studies means taking upwards of 300+mg/day for a 70kg person. After experiencing serious GI issues at even 1 tablet/day(100mg), I didn't relate the two until I had come across others here at imminst complaining of similar problems. I am certain of this relation now because everytime I use Rez-V I get this unfortunate reaction of gas/diarrhea.
I then ordered Vitacost's Longevatrol Stabilized Polyphenol Complex which has 50mg resveratrol plus other goodies per capsule. I have had much less issues with this product and much prefer it over the Biotest one. Like the Biotest one, unfortunately it does not state how much is trans versus cis resveratrol.
Now, this is where I get to my happy ending... It is called Acta-Resveratrol and it is by my favorite brand AOR.
Here are the stats:
Trans-Resveratrol (in oxygen, pH and light-resistent beadlets) 100mg
Luteolin 20mg
Quercetin 51mg
Vitamin C 40mg
Piper Nigrum 20mg
Since beginning this product I have raised my dosing to 300mg with absolutely no signs of GI issues at all. Whether I stay at this level I'm not sure? Could raise or lower, still contemplating...
I believe it is a 98% pure trans product and the other ingredients are for synergy and to greatly improve absorption due to inhibition of glucuronidation and sulphation.
So, I'm passing my experience and jubilation on to others who frequent the imminst forums and have gone Res-crazy these last few months. And I want to extend my gratitude to AOR for this and other great products, past, present and future.

For further info/reading, go to AOR's website or do a search on Acta-Resveratrol.
I think this is the first day they have put this product on their site as I have the AOR site as my home page. [tung]

AOR doesn't sell directly on their site.
I don't like advertising sites too much, but this is a real good price in canadian dollars.

Looking more into luteolin and finding some interesting things:
http://www.luteolin.com/
http://www.lef.org/n...y_optimizer.htm
seems like a good add on beyond the inhibition of sulphation.
And a 20mg dose per capsule is a nice bonus.

Ageless, that resveratrol story doesn't sound so horrible. It just sounds like you went from a high-emodin source to a lower emodin source, and finally to a very low emodin source. FWIW, the AOR product contains bioperine, which a lot of people have concerns about.

Looks like an interesting product is added to the mix here ie. Acta Resveratrol.
When I have to buy AOR (Ortho Mind, Age Amadori and Benagene) I usually buy from
these guys (no affiliation, cheapest gets my purchase)

I'll have to think about paying twice as much per dose as per Anthony's spread sheet

While i generally love AOR (i take Ortho-Core and Ortho-Mind) i find them overpriced and in the case of Acta-Resveratrol i really don't like the composition :-(. (bioperine)

I'm well aware of many others having concerns with bioperine, but I never had them. I have read many studies on bioperine and consider the good and bad studies. I've been taking NSI Curcumin with bioperine because of the 2000% increase in blood levels found when taken with bioperine and used to take my NSI resveratrol with the NSI curcumin believing a possible advantage of increased absorption with the bioperine.
I even have an excellent book on preventing cancer written by some prestigous cancer experts recommending curcumin with bioperine. I guess everyone has their own opinions but I have no trouble ingesting piper nigrum and prefer it when taking my anti-cancer, anti-inlfammatory and anti-aging phytochemicals. In saying this, I do think you have to be careful with certain medications and when other potentially harmful substances are ingested concomitantly.
