I have reduced my frequency to slightly over 1/2 per day since starting this thread. I already feel slightly more energetic and social, and I am more easily aroused.

My goal now is to reduce the frequency to 1/7 per day.

I have noticed a trend: the less porn that I look at, the less need I feel to ejaculate. I think that I am going to have to give up my daily routine of surfing the internet for porn.

^maybe you can try to jerk it only right before you go to sleep? It's really the only thing that works for me when I need to hit the sack... melatonin does nothing and I don't mess with sleep aid drugs.

Then you train yourself to fall asleep right after. Your lucky lady won't like that too much once you get around to intercourse with her,

From previous experience, when I don't ejaculate for about 4 days my body does it automatically when I go for a number 1. Its very strange as there is no real orgasm but it does feel a little satisfying.

Yeah and I have the same problem taking too long to ejaculate when I have sex.

What are you doing guys [:o] !! You know, there are also girls in this forum.
I wonder if they come frequently to visit this thread. It would be funny if we ask them "how frequently do you come to this thread?"
I think they should participate in this topic and show us their little (or big) victoria secrets. [lol]

Those Mind & Muscle guys were onto something. I've gone five days without ejaculating and I seem to have more energy. I wake up on my own after six hours of sleep as opposed to my usual eight, and I am no longer hungry for breakfast. I have, however, also added raw eggs to my regimen.

I was thinking very much the same thing about girls visiting this thread, most likely thinking WTF.

Also, if I don't have sex in four days, something is wrong with the world.

Interesting, I thought that, given the way the various valves and tubes worked, one could not urinate and ejaculate at the same time. Can one of the anatomy experts confirm that his experience is anatomically possible?

AFAIK, this should only occur if there was a nocturnal emission and there was still semen in the urethra.

Or, this, maybe.

No neither of the above. It's a full ejaculation just like sex but with less force just a few seconds after no.1 is complete, it's a little weird but with no proper orgasm although there is some sensation. Its certainly not what was left from night time as this happened in the late evening on multiple occasions after a days work.

Sorry girls. :)

i'm a celibate, and have noticed no nootropic like effects from lack of sex or masturbation.

I doubt you need to ejaculate extremely frequently to get the prostate cancer reducing benefits, probably even once a week is enough,

Celibates can't masterbate?

I think the reason you might feel a spring in your step from not masturbating for a week is that you probably got bored, and letting things build up and get horny or whatever can be good and motivating.Think of the wars fought over women in the past, Antony and Cleopatra, absense making the heart grow fonder and so forth.

There are direct benefits from ejaculating, but also some subtle benefits from going without from time to time (much like fasting) that we probably can't measure.

There were several years where I ejaculated almost every single day. My parents and friends are mostly liberal in these things, so there's not much shame in having the "birds and bees" talk.

My dad practiced as a surgeon for a decade, and most of my dad's side are doctors or in med fields (mom's side mostly in business/ law-enforcement/gov/, trade). Most of them say the less the better, but seem to think there's no permanent harm. They inhibit my dating (basically didn't allow it), but don't care much ~masturbation.

I experimented

I notice no noot or "awakeness-stimulating" effects. Though there would be pent up energy (steadily built throughout period w/o semen-release) The longest time is ~4 weeks w/o ejaculating, eventually leading to night-emission, semen messing the bedsheets, big spot. The energy could be directed to studying/school-work/ working-out.

If I want less libido BUT STILL maintaining testosterone/Manliness/competitive levels, I would try CR first, as I notice when I fast or simply eat little, there's almost no libido.

i think its important to note that the physiological response to ejaculation varies depending on if orgasm is induced by sex or masturbation... i've noted on multiple occasions that after sex i feel energized and after masturbation i feel tired.

there probably is no 'optimal' frequency for ejaculation, i would imagine it varies from person to person... i, and many other, note an increase in energy/motivation when masturbation induced orgasms are decreased (there are huge threads on this on mind & muscle). sex induced orgasms however, do not effect my energy levels.

I suspect that most here are aware of the study(s?) which suggest that frequent ejaculation reduces the risk of prostate cancer. http://news.bbc.co.u...lth/3072021.stm

Just to be puzzled, a new study contradicts this one :) .

Men who are very sexually active in their twenties and thirties are more likely to develop prostate cancer, especially if they masturbate frequently, according to a study of more than 800 men.

From what I have read, there is a widespread perception that frequent ejaculation causes lethargy, yet all of the articles written by physicians seem to discount this perception as an unsubstantiated archaic belief.

Managers of boxers use to say much the same to their boxers. Recall Mickey warning Rocky to stay away from Adrian: "Women weaken legs!"

I am skeptical about this assertion. I suspect most guys just don't know how to masturbate right.

Actually it is well known that orgasms make men feel tired. It is because of the release of prolactin. Intrestingly some studies have found real sex produces much more prolactin than masturbation

http://www.popsci.co...2/sex-and-sleep

It is also responsible for the loss of libido after sex, and multiple-orgasmic men seem not to release prolactin after orgasm.

Hmm, know of any supplements that suppress prolactin?

Optimal Ejaculation Frequency, in my humble opinion, with no scientific basis, would be as often as possible without resorting to masturbation. If masturbation is your only option, then the optimal frequency would be the minimum necessary to prevent prostate issues or congestion (maybe once weekly).

Tampering with hormones is not usually the best idea, and prolactin is likely the cause of some of the feelings of gratification after orgasm, and it has effects upon other hormones like testosterone and DHT, as well as neurotransmitters like dopamine. There are substances though, like ferulic esters, which have contradictory studies regarding prolactin regulation.

Of course there are also pharmaceuticals which can do the trick, but with risky side effects.

Different physiological responses to masturbation vs. sex, body rewards the latter, former is just a waste of resources (time, energy, hormones, zinc, etc), undermines your drive and ability to have real sex with a real person.

Not mine. I enjoy both as frequently as possible, my body certainly rewards both, thank you very much, and I still have time, energy, hormones and zinc aplenty. (No employed person in a developed country needs to worry about conserving energy, nor worry about a zinc famine anytime soon.) And even if you had less drive to have sex with a real person (which is doubtful in a healthy male), what of it? People should have their fun in the ways that they prefer. Also, why should masturbation be a waste and partner sex not? I thought the western world had moved beyond that kind of attitude even if the catholic church hasn't.

Congratulations then, please continue to enjoy yourself. "To each his own" is the directive for the practice of masturbation, and we are each entitled to our opinions.

i happen to agree with funk on this one... overindulgence in 'standard masturbation' (stimulate visually with porn, cum as quick as possible) ultimately decreases your ability to perform with and enjoy a real woman by training your brain only to become aroused through visual means and to achieve orgasm as quickly as possible.
