Given someone posted something up by Travis I figured I'd post a song I know about the fact that we're not immortal. Here's a great song both to listen to and for its lyrics. I have translated it as best as I can but please note that I'm English and probably prone to a few cock ups. [tung] I really want :Wumpscut: to be proved wrong in my lifetime however much I enjoy his music. :)

Ewig.

Siehst Du die Sonne sinken ins Meer?
Siehst Du die Sterne wandern umher?
Was ich auch sage es kümmert nicht
Was ich Dich frage hat kein Gewicht

Denk an die Menschen auf dieser Welt
Feigling der eine Anderer ein Held
Was bleibt denn übrig von ihrer Tat?
Ein Häufchen Asche menschlicher Art

Komm mit zum Abgrund sieh nur hinein
Dort liegt Dein Vater dessen Gebein
Denk an die Worte aus seinem Mund
Wahrheit ist ewig im Höllengrund

Wir sind sind nicht

Wir sind nicht ewig

Komm mit zum Abgrund sieh nur hinein
Dort liegt Dein Vater dessen Gebein
Denk an die Worte aus seinem Mund
Wahrheit ist ewig im Höllengrund

Dort wirst Du darben für alle Zeit
Trotz Deines Glaubens an die Gottheit
Die Dir versprach zu hohlen Dich raus
Aus Deinem Leid oh endloser Graus

Ewig (Eternal/Immortal)

Do you see the sun sink into the sea?
Do you see the stars wander around?
What I also say matters not
What I ask you carries no weight

Think of the people in this world
One a coward and one a hero
What remains due to your actions?
A pile of ashes of human kind

Come to the abyss and take a look inside
There lies your father his skeleton
Think of the words from his mouth
Truth is eternal in the depths of Hell

We are not

We are not eternal

Come to the abyss and take a look inside
There lies your father his skeleton
Think of the words from his mouth
Truth is eternal in the depths of Hell

There you will starve for all time
Despite your belief in the godly
That promised to get you out of the emptiness
Out of your grief oh endless horror

I have a problem believing in hell (that is to say, I don't) and am not sure if all the artists/musicians we listen to use it as imagery to portray human suffering, or if they really believe it exists.

I used to really love a lot of industrial and more experimental, hard electronic music...but it was the underlying nihilism that eventually turned me off much of it. Obviously not applicable to all groups.

Wumpscut is pretty creative though, and has some solid material I've heard. Personally I'd rather listen to Apoptygma Berzerk or other more futurepop-styled group that's uplifting at times and still relatively heavy. [thumb]

As far as music goes, I don't care what they sing about and whether I agree with it as long as it's good but thought-provoking lyrics are a plus. :) I do enjoy some of the cruel lyrics but then I like horror films and it's a bit like an audio horror movie. I really love the music and lyrics to Bunkertor 7 by :Wumpscut: for that reason. If you're learning German, you can pick up some wonderfully fun (but often useless) vocabulary from such music. [tung]

Can't say I've really taken to Apoptygma Bezerk but I do love VNV Nation. I've only known about industrial music for about a couple of years but I keep discovering more and more courtesy of my online friends and internet radio. I do have a fondness for dance and trance music so I can enjoy the future pop stuff. Basic rule with me is anything fast paced is likely to be enjoyed. :)

Instead of making another ":Wumpscut: speaks about death thread," I'll put another song of his here. Here's one to ask yourself, why should it be better to die in winter anyways? Someone I know made me laugh by saying that if you die in summer then you'll miss all the opportunities to go in the swimming pool. [lol] I really love the last verse cos it's true and makes you think. If you have a fondness for photographing old graveyards like I do, you'll see that some headstones are broken and forgotten.

Die in Winter [Bunkertor 7 version]

The time has come to close your eyes
Time has come to realize
Time has come for saddling down
Time has come in sleep to drown
From life from your life from life is this your life
From life this is your life from life this was your life
If you should die die in winter
If you should die die in winter
If you should die, if you should die

Die in winter

The time has come to breathe no more
Time has come to see God's shore
Time has come to realize
Time has come to pay the price for life
For your life, this is your life
For life, this was your life
If you should die, die in winter
If you should die, die in winter
If you should die, if you should die

Die in winter

Come to me you are the chosen
You will see your eyes stay frozen
Black coffin waits for only a chance
To pick you up oh what a romance
In life in your life in your life once in your life
Once in your life this is your life this was your life this was your life
If you should die, die in winter
If you should die, die in winter
If you should die, if you should die

Die in winter

In winter you will live on in people's mind
Though for a minute of mankind
Nature it dies in winter too
But will be awoken in contrast to you
