Indeed, I enjoy reviewing the progress of technology, especially that which I have seen develop (i.e. since 1990). I remember when I must have been 8, me and my classmates had access to a computer that had a text-to-speech program on it. It was... Amusing to me back then, to make it say things it wasn't supposed to. I have no doubt that since then the technology has advanced. I am glad to hear that we have speech-to-text now, as I believe that it is the true beginning of human-computer interaction. Perhaps the development of speech-capable computers will be a most profitable path for enriching our computers intellect, as the language centre of our brains is one of the most profound characteristics of our neurobiology that makes us truly different from other animals.

Speech recognition is much better, now. I am a mumbler sometimes, and 1800-GOOG-411 always understands me, no voice training necessary!

How smart is it? Does it take into account sentence structure?

For example..
I say 'I write well'
Would it write 'I right well'?

Or I say 'I am right'
Would it write 'I am write'?
