So, I bought a multivitamin/mineral complex from Melaleuca, called Vitality for Men and Vitality Mineral Complex with Calcium... I was told I would feel more energetic and clear-headed as healthy people naturally do... 3 weeks later I have no effect (good or bad) except what I suspect is a placebo effect, but its minimal.

Anyway, I read this from Earth Clinic (My first visit there) when I was searching for a better multivitamin

5/6/2005: Ted, our Bangkok, Thailand contributor writes, "The best multivitamin and mineral supplements money can buy, if you ever studied microbiology is actually raw liver and if you studied agriculture, is actually fulvic acid/humic acid. If you do this, you will not only save money in the long run, but you will be healthy also.

Hair mineral analysis often shows that people are very low in many minerals. Part of the problems based on my experience is that people who take supermarket type supplements will have this kind of a deficiency. There are two things why supermarket variety supplements do not work. First it is not bioavailable, second the multivitamins do not dissolve in 15 minutes in a glass of water. Try this to test the quality of your multivitamin: IF THE SUPPLEMENTS THEMSELVES DO NOT COMPLETELY DISSOLVE IN WATER WITHIN 15-20 MINUTES IN A GLASS OF WATER, THEN IT CAN BE CONSIDERED COMPLETELY USELESS. Part of the reason why they dissolved so poorly is to make the tablets look physically attractive, nice shiny, hard like a snooker ball. They add fillers to make them look nice, however these fillers INTERFERE WITH OUR BODY TO ABSORB ANY MAGNESIUM. This is especially true when they use something like tricalcium phosphate, and other calcium fillers. Calcium gets in the way of magnesium absorption since they are both antagonistic.

There are other issues at stake also. If your urinary pH is not 6.5 than it your body cannot absorb them. The pH 6.5 is the optimum pH that the body can absorbed all the minerals best. So you need to test your family's urinary pH using sodium bicarbonate to increase alkalinity and using vitamin C in the form of ascorbic acid to increase acidity. Of course you can use another type of vitamin C, sodium ascorbate, to increase your pH alkalinity.

Finally there is one issue that is most important that most of the people are not aware of. The use of humic acid/fulvic acid to maintain the health of the intestinal flora. Fulvic acid forms a very biochemically actions to help make all the foods you eat to be bioavailable and this will increase all the mineral almost across the board, to optimum levels. It doesn't take months, it doesn't take years, it only takes a couple of days before your body's mineral balance start to change! Some actually tested their blood within hours and they do show changes. Again sodium citrate and other Kreb's chemicals which chelates calcium and magnesium were also seen helpful as well in the mineral absorption.

If you want to eat raw liver, the best approach is to eat a partially cooked chicken liver and put to the blender and mix with some honey or fruit juices to mask the flavor. For me I like to eat partially cooked liver anyway. Taking a fulvic acid supplements will normalize the mineral balance greatly within a month. Fulvic acid makes them bioavailable and liver is the best source for mineral, amino acid and a hosts of other nutrition. No multivitamin can match liver and this is why microbiologist use them as a nutrition source when making culture dishes.

One other thing that you should always supplement, vitamin C (preferably sodium ascorbate) as this is an important vitamin needed to absorbed certain mineral also and it chelates certain heavy metals as well. Not the least vitamin C has an amazing Oxidation Reduction Potential in restoring your blood to be reduced state to make the body operations at an optimum.

This is for those that are aware of the use of Oxidation Reduction Potential will be aware why vitamin C is so important: it controls your blood ORP as it is the single safest compound with the lowest ORP (in form of ascorbate) I have ever seen. Based on my tests at least, it is at least as good or better than Megahydrin and Microhydrin."

What do you guys think?

EDIT- I also tested the whole water dissolving test with these pills, it tells me to take 3 of them at two different times of day, so I put 3 pills into a REFRIGERATED (i dont know if that affects the test, being cold water and all) bottled water.

its been 20 minutes now and the 3 pills look like mashed up piles of blobbish particles, but i shook the bottle and only the outer layer came off, the middle seems to be tightly held together, though it looks dissolved... tricky

Well firstly I would not want to eat a liver every night. It is very high in Vitamin A And could lead to toxicity (depending on the size of the livers you eat I guess). Its good nutrition, but go easy on it.

2nd, putting capsules into water will not show what happens when you put them in your stomach..... Your stomach is much warmer, and has digestive acids and enzymes and churns the food around.

Try putting pills in warm water, or better yet, leave them in your mouth. In 1-2 minutes you will get a yucky taste in your mouth as the outer layer dissolves. Refrigerated water is very unlike the environment in our stomach!

I dont see a chicken liver containing the more exotic types of nutraceuticals people on this board take.... as as far as being bio available, cheap and synthetic ones might not work as good, but you can get 'supplements' in a 'food' form anyway, like the algae, grasses, maca, etc.
