No hard/fast rules that I know about, but the range I've seen
(probably somewhere on this forum)-
1.29 to 4.3 g of ALCAR and 612.6 - 1225.2 mg R-Lipoic

I'd ask Pete, but it's my opinion that it's not so much a ratio as it is a prophylactic. ALCAR causes oxidation. R-ALA quenches the byproducts. Generally speaking I'd think more-is-better, but R-ALA is darned expensive. At least the good stuff. The usual recommendation is 4::1 ALCAR to R-ALA. That would be enough R-ALA to quench the oxidation caused by the ALCAR. But R-ALA has other benefits, irrespective of taking ALCAR. I take a bit more -- maybe 3::1 these days... But not because I want to take a 3::1 ratio -- it just turns out that way based on the amount of each supplement I want to take.

Guys, I've never found a definitive answer to this- can you offer guidance-

Assuming that you are taking 1 dose of ALCAR per day- should ALL the R-ALA be taken at the same time as the ALCAR ?

Would it be better to take the R-ALA in divided doses through the day or would that leave some oxidative stress uncountered?

I take ALCAR 3 times a day, and I take R-ALA with it each time also. Just what I do. Perhaps Ames' site Juvenon might offer some expert guidance:

Q: "Why do you recommend taking Juvenon™ Cellular Health Supplement with food?

A: We state on the bottle to take with food simply because an occasional person will experience a slight upset stomach when the product is taken without food. Juvenon™ Cellular Health Supplement is absorbed more directly into the bloodstream when it is taken without food. "

Juvenon website citation above. They recommend taking one Juvenon tablet (500 mg ALCAR, 200 mg racemic ALA) twice a day.
