Write in ways that people can understand you Treon, and I think you'll get more conversation on the forums. BTW, is english your native tongue?

it's rather a modulator of the active lipase inhibitors (such as when a hobo makes a necklace from your bones)

I understood that. Maybe it's because I'm under the influence, but I feel what Treon says has merit. The singularity is about a uniformity in accepting the plurality of ideas in an evermore/ever-more free marketplace. Cheesecake is indeed an absurdly comical way of discussing the dire issue of Friendliness, just as "pizza and beer" for introductory economic demonstrations. You'd think Treon would be able to freely express his reaction to the metaphorical cheesecake.

Of course, you are free to rebut his argument (I would indeed agree that the lower-level needs in Maslow's hierarchy still make adequate (and entertaining, thereby more effective, pedagogical) tools.

Anyway, I'm obviously not not not not not not not not not sober. However, I do believe that change is happening, and I am privileged to have, in my life-time, experience the birth of the personal computer, the cell-phone, internet access, web 2.0, homo erectus 2.0, and things I haven't even dreamed of yet (though will, in a few years, in the exact same way I daydreamed as I mowed lawns saving up money to buy Sim City).
