For my entire adult life I struggled with gripping depression, mood swings, and lethargy. Though I tested as a genius, I rarely acted like it - until recently.

I take sertraline for the depression, which brings me up to a managable level - I can get out of bed in the morning. Then, after reading about nootropics, I got some Nootropil/piracetam at the pharmacy and took 800 mg with soda in the food court. Within an hour my personality, ability to focus, memory, and everything important about day-to-day living drastically changed.

I used to think of even doing the dishes as a nearly insurmountable challenge.

Now I am planning for medical school.

Your mileage may vary.

Best,

Patrick

Patrick, so nice to read your story.

It is amazing t see how a safe product can make such a big difference.

Do yo have any idea on what can be the effect piracetam makes on you?. Is it more alertness, thought integration, less anxiety or else?. Do you take any other synergistic product?.

The first time I tried 800mg piracetam I could feel a clear effect, a bit dizzy. Never happened again.

BTW piracetam is available OTC in US so you do not need to order from overseas.

I would like to find a product with a similar effect on me, that allows for using one´s potential. Basically I need to have more things done in the real world and not only think about things (motivation?, social skills?...)

I thought you couldn't get Nootropics in normal health stores?

Some you can (Piracetam, Vinpocetine, Vincamine, Pyritinol, Picamilon, Huperzine A, and Galantamine) and others you cannot (Deprenyl, Aniracetam, Oxiracetam, Pramiracetam, Hydergine, Centrophenoxine, and Vasopressin).

Although only 3 or so US stores carry Piracetam, Vincamine, Pyritinol, Picamilon, and Galanatamine.

I assume you're referring to the three places listed in this forum...maybe I should just take a formula like Nootropil which I think has been mentioned. you see my problem is depression, OCD and a fogginess of thinking that lexapro gives me. you recomended Inositol which I take 100mg in a multivitamin which I assume is way below the recomended dosage. I also heard 5hp is helpful as well. Definitiely want to think clearer and remember more, overwhelmed with information, appreciate your help immensely and I'm annoyed at the FDA for not regulating these drugs.

Depression: SAMe 1.6g, 5-HTP 100-300mg, Inositol 18g, have been studied and are relatively safe and can be effective.

OCD: Inositol 18g, have been studied and is relatively safe and is one of the few natural compounds shown to be effective.

Galantamine (as Reminyl) is an FDA approved Nootropic compound also sold as a dietary supplement for the brain.

I have this effect from piracetam the first 2-3 days. Then I feel foggy, irritable and depressed thereafter. Does this sound like choline deficiency?

Firstly, I would recommend creating a separate thread regarding your question. To answer your question, your symptoms do seem to suggest a slight choline deficiency. I would recommend taking a choline supplement initially because of the sudden increase in the number of acetylcholine receptors, making the initial amount of choline amount inadequate and causing negative effects such as being "foggy, irritable and depressed."

Additionally, I share the concerns of nodebunny and would like further information regarding where to purchase Piractam in bulk. It seems as though it is not as widely available as it once was and I would like to again have access to such a substance.

Did you try searching? Here are a couple reputable vendors, but there are many more available.
