I recently started reading a book series and soon realized I better savor each one because the author has been dead for about a decade now and so no more will be forthcoming. The Brother Cadfael novels are about as good as historical mysteries can get.

I remember when I realized Roger Zelazny had died (wrote the terrific action adventure "Amber" novels and the Hugo winning masterpiece "Lord of Light", many of his characters would be considered Transhuman due to their powers and indefinite lifespan) of cancer while in his late fifties and I felt so sad. It turned out he had married later in life and left behind a young wife and two children. There is no question that when a gifted writer dies that their readers grieve for them.

A tribute to Zelazny:

If you have not yet read "Lord of Light" or "Isle of the Dead" than get moving and do it! : )
