What, exactly, does it mean when they say to take a supplement on an "empty stomach". Usually my stomach only feels truly empty when I first wake up in the morning. Is there an ideal window of time between meals? i.e. a certain number of hours after eating, or a certain number of hours before the next meal is consumed?

Also, it seems like there is no definitive answer on whether Piracetam and Alpha-GPC should be taken on an empty stomach or a full stomach, so I'd be interested to hear what the general concensus is on this question. Does one method yield better absorption than the other?

2 hours away from meals would be considered an empty stomach IMHO.

The time between 2 hours after the last meal and 1/2 hour before the next could be a more precise definition. For substances that are more critical 1 hour before the next meal could be applicable. The idea behind this being that medicine do pass the stomach quickly. It also depends a lot on the kind of meal you had. Very fat and lots of meat will prolong the 2 hours after the last meal. Some time ago I had a link to typical passing time of foods in the stomach, but I lost it. I will try to find it and post it if I succeed.

After reading through some medicine information, it seems that in general 1 hour before a meal is considered being on an empty stomach. In that case I should wake-up half an hour earlier each day.

It just doesn't matter in which direction you want to find the solution. It the end it all has to fit within the pathetic 24 hours limit. [lol]

True. I just value my sleep more than my eating, and therefore would rather cut back on eating (or move it around) rather than cutting back on or moving my sleeping.
