I recently bought a bottle of NOW Flax Seed Oil. It looks and smells ok. However, the taste is distinctively rancid. I already bought Spectrum oil and it did not have the same rancid taste at all.

The expiration date is set to 2008. Did they forget to close their refrigerator or something like this? Too bad that the store does not accept refunds. Should I throw this bottle away and buy another brand? Do you guys think this oil is spoiled?

As far as I know you don't have to keep it refrigerated as long as the bottle is unopened.

However, the taste is distinctively rancid.

How would you describe this rancid taste? I know that my flaxseed oil tastes awful(you get used to it), but I do not know what to look for
taste wise of whether it is rancid or not.
