Study Spurs Hope of Finding Way to Increase Human Life

Biologists have found a class of chemicals that they hope will make people live longer by activating an ancient survival reflex. One chemical, a natural substance known as resveratrol, is found in red wines, particularly those made in cooler climates like that of New York State.

The finding could help explain the so-called French paradox — the fact that the French consume fatty foods considered threatening to the heart but live as long as anyone else.

this makes four [lol] [!] by the way Bruce how about color coding the fonts for the various topics? I noticed that might be possible and maybe "Immortality News" for instance would always show up as blue, and stem "Biotech and Genetics" in purple etc. They don't all have to have color but high traffic Forums and Topics might. It is just a suggestion.

Don's repetition of this article is valid in one sense we're building four independently linked sources of the article. Two from mainstream press and two from formal scientific journals. While the info repeats I wonder if collecting and cross linking them is not an important way to develop a body of references for this database?

Well, as this is a 'new topic' post of an article that's already a 'new topic' it would be best to merge it with the original topic under 'Immortality News'

Doing a google search for the article I got 16 hits. Obviously the news is in the process of being disseminated over the wire.

I also find it funny that some news sources find it appropriate to plug local vintages. Note: NY Times promoting New York state wine and Australia promoting Australian wine. Wonder if there will be a spike in red wine sales...

Oh, and by the way, did everyone notice that they sell resveratrol at Smart Nutrition? I guess they're a little ahead of the curve ) Got to get myself a bottle.
