Resveratrol & Longevinex (why the IP3)

I was wondering if their was any consensus about the best reserveratrol supplements? I’ve been taking Longevinex but I would rather not take a product with IP3. I’m not convinced that the benefits of phytate supplementation are as promising as resveratrol. I recently ordered some RevGenetics 500 supplements. Anyone else taking these? What dose? 500mg seems very high to me, I might take them at 300mg. Better to split the dosage over the day or take them all at once?

I've been taking RevGenetics since March with no ill effects other than initially loose stools which have passed (pun intended). I started out w/500mg a day and didn't notice anything dramatic. I upped it to 1 gram per day and am now anecdotally noticing increased strength and gradually reducing weight. This is confounded by my other habits/regimen such as:

2 grams fish oil
100mg R-alpha lipoic acid
500 mg acetyl L Carnitine
250mg pomegranite extract
200 mg grape seed extract
350 mg aspirin

I consume absolutely no sugar, sugar substitutes nor syrup, honey or dried fruits - I now consider them to be the dietary equivalent of nicotine. I further take no caffeine which has allowed chronic muscle aches and pain to go away entirely.

In just under six months of the above regimen my strength, stamina and general sense of well being have been dramatically enhanced. My blood pressure and triglycerides have improved 10 - 12% (bp now 115/60), my heart rate is now at 65 bpm resting (was ~75) and I've lost 17 pounds. The ruddy inflammation present on my face has been eliminated and pore sizes are reduced by half. Mechanical stress has been reduced on my body such that foot and back pain have also gone down significantly. I would benefit by losing another 15 pounds. Hope this helps. Wow thanks for personal review! How do you dose the res? All at once? With anything?

[huh] You are correct, I did mean IP6. For more info about it see the wiki link:

There may be some benefit to taking IP6 but there may also be risks associated with mineral deficiency. To me it's not as sure a thing as resveratrol. Has IP6 always been in the longevinex formulation? Too bad Longevinex doesn't make resveratrol supplements without IP6. Their rational for including IP6 in their supplements is part of a (their?) unified theory of aging which you can read about on their webpage. The bottom line is that as we age more minerals accumulate in our cells, and IP6 binds to minerals so your body doesn't absorb them. But it's not really as clear cut as they make it seem because your body needs the same minerals to function properly, although you can make the argument that the western diet has too many minerals. In any case I am not sold on the idea enough that I want to take IP6 on a regular basis. What do other people think about IP6 supplementation?

I think IP6 has always been used the formulation. Sardi is a big fan of it.

What do other people think about IP6 supplementation?


I dig it in certain situations and used properly.

I don't see any problem with IP6, though I don't take Longevinex as I don't think the product is very cost effective and I personally think I can make a better t-res synergistic blend myself and thus use t-res powder.

[glasses] It's complicated. I'm not convinced that it's a good idea to take IP6 as a daily supplement. Yes, too much iron and calcium are bad but so are too little. Where is the line? Trying to modulate mineral nutrition with something that prevents minerals from being absorbed into your system might be beneficial under certain circumstances but I don’t want to do it on a daily basis until more research shows that it’s safe and beneficial.

For those of you who take high doses of resveratrol, do you take it all at once or in more than one dose each day?

I take it in 4 to 8 divided doses, from awakening (empty stomach pre-workout) to QHS (empty stomach) and in between with each meal, but not all at once

wow 4 to 8 doses. 8! doses, now that is dedication, my hats off to you. I usually take 2 to 3 doses of my t-res cocktail (500 mg t-res per dose).

I just allocate stuff in the AM into separate containers, color coded, for during the day, throw 'em in my backpack or briefcase, and I'm set.
