I saw that a new article on Sinclair and Sitris was just published in the New York Times, for those interested.

Anyone know when the final results of the Sinclair experiment with mice/resv will be out? I thought that it was round about this time.

That article probably helped to give sirt a 15% growth over the past day ;)
I am not holding any stock atm though.

An interesting excerpt from the article:

The company is also developing other “sirtuin activators” that are unrelated to resveratrol, and which Dr. Westphal describes as “one thousand times” as powerful as SRT501.

I didn't know its other chemicals were that much stronger than SRT501, I knew they had some stronger ones though, just not 1000 times. I would like to know when their study will be published.

Good find. Thanks for posting.

Regarding the trial...

JPMorgan analyst Geoffrey Meacham expects clinical trial results to show one of the company's drug candidates, STR501, is effective against type 2 diabetes. He thinks those results will arrive within a year.

The longer the wait for the results the better. Maybe those mice are just not dying fast enough to get results this year. [lol] Thanks to the NYT article I'm at the break even spot with my SIRT stock. [thumb]

I believe it is a human trial.

Bought Sirtris stock today, only 200 shares, but at least I'm in the game.
BTW, Sinclair, according to NYTimes article is not a Doctor.

Actually I was referring to a follow up on the Sinclair study for mice. http://f1.grp.yahoof...rNature2006.pdf
No results were given for the mice on 5 and 22 mg/kg per day that had a normal diet. Sinclair has said that the full results will be available when the last of the mice on resv. and normal diets are dead. That's why the longer we wait, perhaps the better. I also recalculated my SIRT stock gains. I'm up 12%! [g:)] I expect this stock to be a real roller coaster. Look out below. Long term play money.

Not a physician, you mean. He has a Ph.D.

Actually, the substance in question might not really be that much more effective then resveratrol but rather have much lower toxicity hence allowing for far higher dosing resulting combined in the much higher effect. If i read the paper they published correctly.

Proteomist, you are correct about Sinclair's credentials. Ph.D.'s are usually referred to as "doctor". The NY times did not; it referred to him as Mr. Sinclair.
