I still can't sing, and I have perfect pitch hearing without Piracetam, but at 46, my hearing was gone after 14 Khz, it has improved to where I can hear up to 17 Khz, except I have a notch at 15.75 Khz (which happens to be the horizontal sweep frequency of NTSC television), usually hearing at higher frequencies gets worse not better with age. This happened after I started taking Piracetam. I also noticed overall sensitivity to sound went up, people talking three blocks away would seem as if they were right next to me. Similar affects on vision, dark vision at night substantially improved, color perception substantially improved. Haven't noticed any change to taste, smell, or tactile response however.
I really took it because I was looking for something that would help with general focus and clarity. I have ADD, Ritalin for that helps more than Piracetam does but both help more than either alone. The combination also eliminates some of the side effects I experienced with Ritalin alone.
It seems to be a substance that affects everyone differently, and the dosage that is optimal also seems to be individual. For me there is a definite peak over which it makes things worse instead of better, and that peak is fairly sharp and it's about half what the manufacturers generally recommend.
While the visual effects were noticeable almost immediately the improvement in hearing and mental clarity happened over a period of about three months. I think one of the reasons many people, and many controlled studies fail to find much positive value in this substance is that it is at least for some people very dosage sensitive, and most studies aren't of sufficient duration to see the long term effects.
For those that experience "crabbiness", that's a side effect I experienced with both Piracetam and Ritalin, either by themselves, I found taking a choline and L-tyrosine supplement seems to eliminate that and smooths out the overall mental experience a bit.
I am out right now and the place I normally order from (American Nutrition) is out of stock.

personally I have noticed that my hearing has improved, especially in distinguishing different sounds.
For example when I'm in a noisy place (a bar with loud music and a lot of people talking) I can tune out the noise, and focus
on hearing clearly only one thing (music, conversation etc.) which is great. When listening to music I have noticed a surround like effects as well.
