Are there any smart drugs that can give the focus and concentration that I find when taking adderall? I have tried ritalin but it did not put me in the zone so to speak. Are there any smart drugs that are comparable that would help someone focus like that?

I suppose some people would tell you to try modafinil although I don't think it does much for my focus more for alertness and mental energy though.

You should try phenylpiracetam, from what I've heard it has effects compareable to Adderall.

I think it's kind of like Aniracetam, some people are receivers and some are not.
But yeah Modafinil is good enough for me, but there's always a risk importing it because it's Schedule IV where I live.

For myself it's a combo of guarana or chocomind, with dlpa + sulbutiamine + acetyl-l-carnitine + NAL-tyrosine + galantamine
Sometimes I'll take amp which is geranamine (methylhexamine) chocamine & caffeine
I haven't tried pramiracetam but I've heard it's similar in molecular structure to 4-mar "ice"
I'm interested in finding the best focus nootropic combo, but as others have said... most effects are subtle and random.

This is disappointing. It seems like every nootropic has different results for different people which means to me they don't work very well. Anyone who has taken adderall tells you the same thing but with nootropics the reviews are all over the place. If there is nothing that can provide this level of focus I think I may have to give up on the idea of nootropics all together.
Yeah and when you find that nootropic with amphetamine like
efficacy you can count on its sales being highly restricted in short order by the FDA.

>I am not looking for any kind of euphoria just something that will help you concentrate for long periods of time.
Galantamine? Most "nootropics" just don't work for the purpose you describe. 'racetams, for instance, are not really acute concentration aids. You're asking for something dopaminergic, and currently that mostly describes ADD/ADHD psychostimulants ... and amineptine.
Aniracetam has dopaminergic activity and has improved focus in some people. There are other things that might be worth looking at.
Off the top of my head: Galantamine, deprenyl, ENADA NADH, rhodiola, a few months of bacopa, gotu kola, st. john's wort, pyritinol, nicotine.

yea. while both inhibit acetylcholinesterase, galantamine also directly stimulates nicotinic acetylcholine receptors, which will cause dopamine release as per nicotine. whereas aricept actually tends to reduce stimulation of the nicotinic receptors.

I am reluctant to mess with my brain chemistry because I do not know enough about the subject, but I could really do with something safe to help me focus on finishing up my PhD thesis in which I am losing interest but would love to be able to finish before moving on with my life.

Try some natural remedies like fasting, meditation, exercise, fish oil, or brightspark. Smart drugs usually leave you stupid in the end.Are there any smart drugs that can give the focus and concentration that I find when taking adderall? I'm not going to trust an article that claims that Xanax and Ritalin are anti-depressants though.

Ritalin was initially used to treat depression according to Wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia....Ritalin#History. And Wikipedia says Xanax was used as an "adjunctive treatment for anxiety associated with clinical depression." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xanax.I'm not going to trust an article that claims that Xanax and Ritalin are anti-depressants though.
When I was a "needle freak" back in the 70s, we use to crunch up Ritalin and cook it in a spoon like heoin and hit it up. I gave up substance abuse and consider it a bad thing today.
I would advise you against using these type of drugs and to look into the natural remedies I mentioned above. It's wiser and safer.

I'm not criticizing your remedies, not at all. Meditation, exercise, proper nutrition, those are all important. Some people can benefit greatly, though, from nootropics in addition to a healthy lifestyle.

Sounds good to me. I'm new to this nootropics thing and haven't even looked up the term yet. That article isn't about nootropics. Maybe there's a link between SSRIs and suicide rates, but that has nothing to do with smart drugs like piracetam, deprenyl, hydergine, ALCAR, etc. Powerful stimulants like ritalin and adderall can be harmful, obviously, but the nootropics I mentioned have virtually zero abuse potential and are regarded to be extremely safe in both short term and long term use.

I'm sorry, that article sucks, and Brightspark's somehow not a drug? Contains hyoscamine? That is some powerful, dumbifying shit.

You're right about BrightSpark being a drug. I just assumed it was a lot less potent than Ritalin, etc, since it's sold without a prescription.
Being a refined substance, wouldn't even fish oil be considered a drug?
