Hi, I'm new to the forum. I'm relatively new to nootropics and I would like to share my background info and stack. I hope listing stacks is appropriate here.
Age: 28
Sex: Male
Height: 5’9”
Weight: 180 lbs
Occupation: Student. Music/audio engineer (software design, math, and physics) and artist (sound artist). I’m finishing up my masters in Music Technology.
Diet: Vegetables, fruits, grains, herbs, spices, nuts, beans, fish, meats, caffeine (tea or coffee, a few times a week), almost no alcohol, minimal junk food.
Exercise: Usually walk and bike around for a half hour (or more) during the day. I should exercise more, etc.
Medications: None.
Medical Conditions: Mild asthma, mild sinus problems.
Perceived problems: My perception is that I have always had a bad memory, inattentiveness, poor written and oral comprehension, depression, anxiety and bad sleeping habits. I have not been diagnosed for any of these problems, and I would not characterize these problems as severe.
How long?: I’ve been taking the following for about 1 month (except #2 which I just bought yesterday).
Nootropics:
Note: I try to take a break from each of the following (except for the omega3), at least once a week.
1. B complex (with 200 mg choline bitartrate, folic acid, B1, B6, B12, biotin, inositol) (once in the morning). More details if necessary.
2. Company: Thera Nova; product: "Thera-Memory" (taken 2-4 times daily), which contains the following:
- Acetyl-L-Carnitine: 250 mg
- Bacopa Monniera: 150 mg (with 70% Bacosides)
- Ginko Biloba: 50 mg
- Hericium (Organic): 150 mg
- Huperzine-A: 50 mcg
- Pantotenic Acid 100 mg
- Reishi (Orgainic) 100 mg
- R(+) Lipoic Acid 50 mg
- Vinpocetine: 10 mg
3. Company: Genuine Health, product: "Memory +" (taken 2-3 times daily), which contains the following:
- Ashwagandha: 700 mg:
- Boca Monifera: (600 mg with 20% Bacosides)
- Ginko Biloba: 120 mg
- Gota Kola: 200 mg
- Siberian Ginseng root extract: 55 mg
4. Piracetam 1 g (3-4 times daily).
5. Omega3 (pharmaceutical grade) (EPA: 625 mg; DHA: 100 mg) (taken 3-4 times daily)
Vitamins:
1. Warmpole Multivitamin (with lycopine and lutein). Once in the morning. More details if necessary. I should probably buy a better multivitamin. Suggestions?
Other Supplements:
1. Echinacea (herb: 380 mg, root: 20) (3 times daily).
2. Melatonin 1.5 to 3 mg (Before bed, a few times a week, when I need it):
3. I'm also taking a lot of organic herbs, which I boil and consume. I usually take one cup a few times daily. I'm not necessarily taking all of these ingredients every day. I just take whatever seems helpful at the time. I use these to help me sleep, relax and occasionally to address minor asthma/cold symptoms and minor stomach upsets. These include:
a) For sleep: skullcap, valerian, catnip, chamomile, peppermint, lemon balm, and St. John’s wort.
b) For relaxing: peppermint, lemon balm, St. John’s Wort, eucalyptuses, linden, and rosemary (small amount).
c) For healthier lungs: burrdock, cardamom dandelion, eucalyptuses, fennel, licorice, marshmallow root, milk thistle seed, mullein leaf, and slippery elm bark.
d) General health: astralogus root (for immune system), calendula flower, dandelion, fenugreek, ginger, hibiscus flower, horsetail, marshmallow root, milk thistle seed, mullein leaf, pau’d arco, and slippery elm bark,
e) Stomach/immunity: astralogus root, cardamom, fennel, ginger, hibiscus, horse tail, licorice (small amount), milk thistle, peppermint, slippery elm, and tumeric (small amount).
Edit: I should not, however, give the impression that I am concocting large mixes of these herbs and consuming them regularly. Just a little of this and that occasionally (as prescribed by research) and generally not at the same time as the aforementioned drugs.
Overall positive effects:
- More memory, understanding, motivation, epiphanies; less stress and almost no depression; less sleep, but better sleep. Life is a lot easier, when you're smarter! For the first time I see many possibilities unfolding.
Overall negative effects:
- I feel a little stoic (but that seems to be part of my personality anyways). I would like to add something that would help me to experience more joy (without risking addiction or significant toxicity).
I would be interested to hear any other suggestions for improvement or contraindications I’ve missed (I hope not). I'm worried that nootropic #2 might conflict with my stack, I have researched the ingredients and it seems fine.
Thanks for reading this!
