I started this topic in the chat archive so everyone can see who was invited in the past. Some of these people might make good guests once again - like an update on what they said 2 or 3 years ago.

So far members have mentioned

Marvin Minsky
Michio Kaku
Ray Kurzweil
Aubrey De Grey

Please use this thread to make suggestions. The best suggestions would be someone you know or have a connection with, that way it might be easier to get them to appear in the Sunday night chat. Sure, it might be nice to have some famous celebrity or politician, but it is probably not worth the effort to contact these very high profile people. I am thinking more along the lines of transhumanists, researchers (working on new exciting life extension type stuff), professors, etc...

Eliezer Yudkowsky
Ben Goertzel
Bruce Klein
Nick Bostrom
Brian Wang
Anders Sanberg
Michael Rae
Josh Mitteldorf
Robin Hanson
Phillipe Van Nedervelde
Michael Dickey
Michael Vassar
Michael Rose

Just some ideas. And, really any of our Directors or Advisors could make an interesting chat session.

Edit: Added a few more.

I could talk to George Dvorsky, I'm sure he would be interested for a chat.

I wouldn't know anyone in particular, but it would be very interesting to discus with LE opponents.

The following are ImmInst members (as far as I know):

Brian Wowk
Ben Best
Aubrey De Grey
Ben Goertzel
Bruce Klein
Michael Rae

I'll also add Robin Hanson to the my ultimate list of people I'd like to see in an ImmInst chat.

Todd Huffman would certainly enjoy talking about magnets, an all time favorite among imminsters, as well as other things. I can ask him if you like.

Bastard. I suggested that when I didn't have the time and I still haven't got the time. I feel very guilty for not presenting :(

Perhaps in the next year I will be able to present something along those lines. Actually I should just present the results of my Ph.D.

I've sent George Dvorsky a message asking him if he's interested in being our guest for this Sunday night's chat, November 11th. 6:30 pm CST U.S. (central time). I'll let everyone know when he gets back to me...I also said if he's busy this weekend to keep me posted as to when he's available and that it's cool if he is. I'm sure he'll be interested though!

Heard back from George, an excerpt of what he said:

Thanks so much for the invite, but I have plans during that time. Please keep me in mind for future chats! --G

So...just more warning next time. I can ask him about next week also

Marilyn vos Savant, now that would be interesting. I could try to contact some of these people--are we going to just see who volunteers for what? Or will there be a more official way of keeping track :) (we'd have to offer money though to get many that are mentioned, like Shatner, or Hilton :p )

Good news that George wants to join one, I met him once--he is very engaging.

I will contact the potential guests, unless an Imminst member has a special/closer connection with one of them, then I will ask that member to go ahead and send an invite.

I am all for Greg Egan. Does anyone know how to get a hold of him. His website does not have an email address or "contact" function.

Luigi Fontana, Larry Ellison, John Sperling, Stewart Brand, also I second the Leon Kass one - that would be a lot of fun.
