Kurzweil is definitely a visionary... I can't say I think too much of oxygen therapy... the amounts of oxygen in the tissues is quite a bit lower than that of the atmosphere. Oxygen itself is a stressor on the our systems... essential for life it is also one of the things which is increasingly being shown to damage our systems. The body responds to slightly elevated stress by increasing it's protective mechanisms. It is thought that a number of agents can cause the body to kick into 'repair' mode by this process, known as hormesis. It might be that oxygen therapy works in this way although I'd have to do some more research to say more accurately if this is the case..

There was a presentation at the IABG from a Russian scientist who indicated that the Superoxide anion, which people commonly believe to be a free radical when it really isn't, could play an important role in the metabolism of the cell. He was VERY difficult to understand due to a thick accent and I hope to get his presentation from Aubrey to refresh my memory on his hypotheses.
