Low sodium V8 appears to be one of the better (if not the best) drink at local stores. Don't let the name fool you, it still has more sodium than I would prefer: 140mg compared to 480mg in normal V8.

The original V8 Vegetable Juice is made mainly from tomatoes and the juices from seven additional vegetables, specifically: beets, celery, carrots, lettuce, parsley, watercress, and spinach. Tomato juice comprises around 87% of the total drink.

Calories 50
Sodium 140mg
Total Carbohydrates 10.0g
Dietary Fiber 2.0g
Sugars 8.0g Protein 2.0g

Low Sodium V8 recieved an A- @ calorie-count.com (http://www.calorie-c...item/84094.html)

Obviously water has it beat in calories, but v8 probably helps satiate appetite enough to mitigate its 50 calories.
I have about 1 glass of V8 a day, but if water was a significantly better choice, I probably wouldn't bother with v8 at all.

Looking this stuff up introduced me to some cool resources for pretty damn good nutritional info:
http://www.nutritiondata.com/ (http://www.nutrition...01-01c21zi.html for v8) (this site is awesome) and
http://www.calorie-count.com/ (http://www.calorie-c...item/84094.html for v8)

Any thoughts?

I agree. A great source of lycopene and cartenoids among other nutrients

It also has 3 grams of fiber.

I'm not sodium-phobic myself, because my BP is optimal and I exercise quite a bit.

I have always wondered if it was bad for teeth enamel when drank daily, being so acidic.

Another thought is for those who can't stand the taste, water is always a good refreshing choice. ;)

I drink a glass of it each morning - good stuff and helps get the potassium intake up quite a lot.

I started drinking two glasses a day, one in the morning and one and the evening. I must say I feel a lot better then when I was drinking fruit juices (actual juice not sugar water.)

It's like drinking cold tomato soup! Grilled Soy Cheese anyone!

The low-sodium one tastes AWFUL compared to regular V-8. They replace all the salt with sugar. Not much healthier IMO.

Same sugar content listed on the nutritional profiles. What they replaced the salt with was potassium chloride.

Low-sodium V8 has 1.2 more gram of sugar and .5g less gram of protien.

V8 LS Info: http://www.nutrition...01-01c21zi.html

It appears that they have the same levels of potassium listed: 467mg (13% DV), so maybe they didn't replace salt with potassium chloride. What was your source there?

My source is the bottles in my fridge. I do a 50/50 mix of each to help in the taste dept. But yeah, the data at this site reflects what I see on the bottles:

http://www.dietfacts...sp?searchKey=v8

820mg of potassium in the Low Sodium's 8 oz serving. And the label lists potassium chloride in the ingredients. Perhaps there was an earlier version with the stats that are on the site you found.

Well that is good news. Potassium is gooood :) It helps with high blood pressure among other benefits. Good replacement for sodium.

I too like the potassium content of low sodium V8 (8 oz has over 700 mg), and it has 10% of the RDA for magnesium as well and a nice selection of vegetables.
