knowing that the sodium lauryl sulfate, diethanolamine, and fragrances in most commercial shampoos harm the skin and are potentially neurotoxic/carcinogenic, do posters here avoid these products in favor of organic shampoos?

i would like to start doing so, as i have a feeling shampoo may be a part of my seborrheic dermatitis problem.

any recommendations?

I use Jason "Natural Jojoba Shampoo" which I get from http://www.vitacost....-Natural-Jojoba

They suggest using their conditioner afterwards but I find it leaves my hair quite manageable and silky so I don't use a conditioner.

I looked at the label and wonder if there any dangers to "Decyl Glucoside, Oxybenzone, Planthenol-3™ (DL-Panthenol, Ethyl Panthenol And Panthenyl Hydroxypropyl Steardimonium Chloride), Cyclopentasiloxane and Dimethicone and Sodium Benzoate"?

I'm not sure about the others listed but I remember reading somewhere that sodium benzoate can be toxic but hopefully someone will be more sure than I am.

Sodium benzoate is also used in food. Then it's considered to increase the risk of being hyperactive in children. So, I think that Na-benzoate wouldn't be bad in your shampoo.

decyl glucoside:

Oxybenzone:

The decyl glucoside link wouldn't load for me but wouldn't the sodium benzoate and oxybenzone info mean that it might be bad to use in shampoo?

Yes, there is something wrong with my link. Here is the same text but from pubmed:
http://www.ncbi.nlm....pt=AbstractPlus

Na-benzoate is bad if you ingest it not if you put it onto your skin.
