after a month of misdiagnoses, from a DVT, to cellulitis, I ended up going back to my surgeon and he said i ruptured a bakers cyst. he gave me a cortisone shot a few weeks ago and that help a lil bit, but there is still alot of swelling in my knee that hinders flexion and rom for sprinting. im wonderin what supps would be good to take...here what im thinkin..

curcumin...fot obvious anti-inflam reasons...
nattokinase....It has been shown to support healthy blood flow
by assisting the circulatory clearing system of the body
serrapeptase..has anti-inflammatory, anti-edemic and fibrinolytic activity
and acts rapidly on localized inflammation. boswellia...anti inflam properties
fish oils.....(specifically flameout by biotest- .DHA: 2200 mg.
EPA: 880 mg. along with CLA trans-10, cis-12: 212 mg.
CLA cis-9, trans-11: 180 mg. per serving) ..great joint and inflam
dmso...reducting of swelling
wobenzym n ...help everything work better, helps to heal itself

please comment and add or subtract what u feel necessary, i have a month and a half before season starts, so i need help ASAP

Thanks,
meat

I am puzzled by your diagnosis. I thought a Baker's cyst was a rupture-An escape of fluids from inside the knee to a cyst at the back of the knee. A rupture of a Baker's cyst would be very painful, tearing of muscle and fascia. So maybe the first order of business should be determining the cause of the inflammation fluids released from inside the knee. In my case, I had a tear and fraying of the meniscus repaired by surgery.

My baker's cyst is currently very small, if it is there at all.

I just used about 1 gram curcumin with bioperine and about 4 grams of EPA/DHA for supplements. And recently I have used DMSO to speed recovery as I expand the performance envelope of my knee. I don't know yet how effective DMSO will be. DMSO definitely causes skin irritation.

I found a unique taping solution to the problem of getting excess fluid to disappate. The tape is very stretchy, sticky and skin thick. It is like another layer of skin. The glue is applied in waves designed to differentially pull on the skin and move the fluid out. There is a surprising proprioception effect on the muscles that strengthens the joint. I know this is all very unscientific, and possibly placebo, but I have used this for over a year and the placebo effect usually quickly disappears for me.

To apply the tape I used a book called "Kinesio Taping Perfect Manual". The cover looked like a comic book, and when it arrived, the model used to demonstrate the taping was a very thin Japanese girl. The pictures were very effective and informative because imagining where the bones were was not necessary. So the bottom line is the book was clear and informative making me very confident I had applied the tape correctly. Kinesio tape is a proprietary product and easily found on the net.

Meat250, while checking out P5P(see recent post), I discovered another method of reducing edema. P5P-a highly bio-available form of B6, can reduce edema.
