Anyone else seen the movie "There will be Blood"?

It is up for a lot of awards. I thought it was pretty good, if a bit longer and more drawn out than I expected.
Very negative towards capitalism (at least in a specific sense) and religion (in both a specific and general sense). All the reviewers and people like Howard Stern have raved over this movie. I thought it was pretty good and raised some good questions; Has anyone else seen it?

This was an awesome movie - It didn't feel as long as it is but yes, it is a long movie. Daniel Day Lewis has a magnificent performance.

Generally people seem to assume that its negative toward capitalism and religion. I agree but I think the film is intended a vehicle for the naked power of ambition and perhaps the twisted (or more true) vision of the American Dream. It represents character types with one sole obsession that will allow nothing to get in their way. The message transcends a dialogue on religion or capitilism and can feed into various stratas of society. I think Day Lewis himself (who I hear is obsessive and demanding on set) had to tap that same inner demon that feeds his skill as one of the best leading actors in film.

I think any ambitious person will see parts of themselves represented in the movie. I definately saw glimpses of myself...

Ambition without a moral check is an awesome force indeed.

Here is the Charlie Rose talking about the movie, with the director, Paul Thomas Anderson, and Daniel Day Lewis:

I've been anxiously awaiting it to come to my backwards area. Day-Lewis is one of the most watchable actors that's ever performed, and Anderson hasn't disappointed yet.

Finally saw it. It was great. Not quite as good as No Country for Old Men, but Daniel Day-Lewis gave the best performance of the year...as usual.

No Country for Old Men was astounding as well. (really interesting story) I was a bit dismayed about the very end of it, but I can understand why it was almost a necessary outcome.

We really need a movie corner or something to discuss upcoming and already out flicks...

I have no idea why anyone finds NCFOM all that great. If it acting, or character development - yeah, I can see making a note of that. Interesting Story? Not jabbing at you, I just don't get it - it's the same story told millions of ways. What was "special" or so different about this one? And I ask..b/c I really don' get it. And that's very unusual for everyone to be so hard for a flick and me not getting it all. Help me, please.

All stories can be broken down to three or so basic outlines. Nobody wants to make a movie that has a radically original story. You want to tell the same story in an original manner.
