be very careful with deprenyl.

it might only have minor life extension effects if taken before 30-40 but as I can attest, it could change certain things about your personality and "mounting frequency" (i.e. libido.)

my aggression also peaked when I started taking it. at 20 your testosterone levels are quite high and I would carefully monitor your personality with a journal and/or blood work to confirm any suspicions.

If you're unfamiliar with these types of observations, perhaps you should rethink deprenyl usage for now.

yes do yourself a favour and give it to someone over 40. Actually that would be doing them a favour

Here is a chat from a while ago on imminst with Dr Knoll:
http://www.imminst.o...mp;#entry177446

In fact, Dr. Knoll himself takes deprenyl every day, and recommends that every sexually mature person should be doing the same.[/b]
Q: What do you think are currently the best ways to slow down, or reverse, the aging process and extend the human life span?
Dr. Knoll: Regarding the quality and duration of life, the most important aging process is the continuous, slow, age-related decline of the mesencephalic enhancer regulation during the postdevelopment phase of life. This can not be reversed, but its progress can be slowed by the prophylactic administration of a synthetic mesencephalic enhancer substance (for the time being with the daily administration of one milligram of deprenyl). The earlier this protective treatment starts, the better are the prospects to improve the quality of life in the latter decades, which necessarily goes together with an extension of life span.

Regarding when he started his dosing in mice trials:

We worked, for example, with the long-lived, robust, Wistar-Logan strain, which seldom grows tumors. The age of rats at the start of treatment was two years in our first study and roughly eight months in our second study.

In both studies a substantial number of rats treated with deprenyl lived longer than the estimated technical life span of three and a half years.

This correlates to about starting when you are 15 (in mouse study starting dosage @ 8 months).

The rest of the interview is a good read. I'm not sure what others have said regarding the LE benefits of Deprenyl.

Ah yes but Dr. Knoll is the one who created Deprenyl correct? I'm sure he is always going to say his own supplement is safe , lol.

Well he also recommends a very small and conservative dose (1mg). LEF recommends 2-5 mg 2-5 days a week once you hit 40. In trials that I have read, dosage level is very important and more is not better. I am 23 and I am going to be taking 1mg / day.

I am almost 30 and take 1 mg per day and have done so for a number of years.

One thing about Deprenyl is that with oral dosing, much of the dose is converted by first pass liver metabolism into amphetamine derivatives. Personally, I take the Liquid Deprenyl Citrate and apply my one drop directly under the tongue and hold it in my mouth as long as possible for sublingual and buccal absorption (under the tongue and through the cheek).

I deprenyl in my late teens/early twenties, though I didnt take it continuously. I only have been taking it continuously since about 25. I never had any problems with low doses. I have experimented with higher doses and I don't recommend it for someone in their 20s. I try to increase my dosage in another 5 or ten years.

I take 1.25mg via tablet every 2-3 days - it gives a noticable boost and should help in terms of longevity in the long run (sublingual solution would be better - or if you have access to the deprenyl patch, you can cut it into small pieces)

taking more than that makes me edgy and unable to sleep

I'm 33

You might want to consider bacopa supplementation instead:

tried & tested in Ol' India through millenia - can't say that for deprenyl...

There's no serious concern in taking it. It's a generally safe drug when used as directed. Just stay under 15 mg daily.

There are plenty of documented problems arising @ 10 mg /day. I wouldn't take a dose of 10+mg /day without supervision of a doctor.
10 mg/day is the recommended treatment for parkinsons... Suggesting that healthy people should self medicate up to 15mg/day is irresponsible.

Do you even notice any cognitive improvement at low dosages, say 1 mg / day? What dosage provides the best nootropic effect? Honestly, I am tempted to try it, but am still concerned about long-term consequences.
