Dr. Mercer was wondering what happened to his book submission to the second ImmInst book. I looked through all the submissions in the archive and didn't see it, moreover I could not ascertain what the current status of the book is --other than 'on hold'. I would like to see this come to fruition, but are the contacts still there for editing and printing? This would be a great book to have out by our 08 joint conference, and it seems most the work is already done--this could be possible. Of course, if we devoted a year to making sure all the essays are up-to-date and currently relevant then 09 would be fine for publishing.

Caliban is the point person in this regard, I am sure he will issue an update soon.

Dear Dr. Mercer

I do apologise if this correspondence has not reached you. After
taking a long hard look at the entirety of the submissions for the
second ImmInst book project, the editors decided to recommend to the
board that not enough quality submissions had been received to emulate
the strength of the first volume.
There have been various ideas about how to proceed. Currently, the
most likely option would seem to be that rather than venturing a
second book, the Institute would look towards a revised edition of the
first volume with a more established publisher. I realise that a
contribution of yours was included in the first edition. If it comes
to it, maybe some of the "Pauline vs. Platonic" content could be
integrated here?

Best regards

Oh, thanks--that explains things, I'd love to give an updated version of my own essay :~ Of course, any book titled 'The Scientific Conquest of Death' should have the most up-to-date info, and relevant cultural analysis--the topic has been growing in society and now 'Ending Aging' is bringing many new people into the movement. I think that after reading various critiques of the original TSCD, we all have an enhanced appreciation of what sort of updates are needed.

Does anybody have any submissions they would like to make for the second book? If you know anybody that might then ask them about it.
