I just ran the standard Resveratrol HPLC vials again. I noticed that it is already converting to CIS. I know that people are using resveratrol + Ethanol. Maybe to max the trans content make your mix on a weekly or biweekly basis.

I dissolve only as much as I'm going to use right then. It doesn't take that long to dissolve it, and compounds never last as long in solution as they do in solid phase. I have little worry any more about the stability of solid phase resveratrol as long as you aren't doing something stupid with it, like leaving it in the sun all day. Solutions are a whole different story though.

What do you mean by this? Make a week's quantity, then drink it daily from that pre-made mix?

I just assumed that ppl on this board are taking large amounts of resveratrol. Assuming that I thought a few people are making large batches of ethanol and resveratrol to consume over a long period (it is easier than making it every day). Anyways my point is that it maybe converting pretty fast from Trans to Cis in ethanol.

Without going into deep details, estimated time, how fast from trans to cis in EtOH?

Well in Methanol I saw about a 2% conversion over three days. In EtOH maybe faster, maybe slower or the same.

Can you tell us about your environment?

Closed lab room? What kind of lighting? Windows and temp?

Were was it left during that time?

thanks

Room temp lab bench. Out in the open. When I left a sample in water it didn't degrade this fast. Nothing to get worried... ;)

The Trela paper on stability indicates it converts to Cis in ethanol solution under laboratory lighting; I believe they saw 60% conversion over 30 days. Recommended storage of the dry powder is cool, dark environment.

I mix a weeks worth in EtOH then mix with lecithin, water and a little olive oil and orange juice. I keep this in a container in the freg. What do you guys think about this?

The acidity of the OJ prevents conversion to the cis form.

I dunno if it is the UV light or the organic solvent that causes it to isomerize faster... I wouldn't go over a week
