I just got delivered DLPA, and LPA. Is there any differences in what I can expect from these two different compounds?

Yes, the D form of PA is the best form for pain issues. That is, the d-form is best for increasing the endorphins and enkalphalins. The d-form is the most expensive too. I have also read in Barry and Irving Fox's book (DLPA for Depression and Pain) that tyrosine doesn't really help with pain issues. I don't believe that it does, but have read some others claiming that it does. I take DLPA and not tyrosine. I can have some problems with knots and kinks in my neck and shoulders. I perfer to use DLPA rather than tyrosine. I think DLPA works better for me, especially for the pain issues, instead of tyrosine. Tyrosine is non-essential whereas PA is essential, so PA will likely do the same as tyrosine and sometimes more.

Most supplements provide a 50-50 balance of the L and D forms of PA. If you have any muscle tensions problems you may have that problem with taking just the L form of PA.

Some have said that they can have some anger issues from too much tyrosine. I have experienced that myself. I think that either DLPA or tyrosine may cause that problem because as your catecholamine levels go up your serotonin levels go down relatively speaking. Barry and Irving Fox recommend that you take a break from supplementing DLPA or cycle it. I think that may work but also taking some 5htp (or tryptophan) at night might work too. I usually take DLPA during the day and take 5htp at night. Most experts recomment taking either DLPA or tyrosine early in the day because it can interfere with sleep.

Any suggestions for how you might cycle (D)LPA?

Barry and Irving Fox in their book suggest using it for 3 weeks and then taking a one week break. They also explain how some people will figure out when to stop when they start feeling irritiable. But I do think it is better to take some 5htp or tryptophan instead. That balances the dopameragic and serotonergic systems, which help you avoid the irritiability issues, I think. And you don't need that much 5htp or tryptophan. It is best to take these amino acids (DLPA and HTP) at separate times to avoid one interfering with the other being absorbed and taken up by he brain.
