Anything recommended here for emphysema?

A friends mother, a smoker age 72, has emphysema. She has just started using O2 and and nebulizer treatments. Just wondering whether there are any directions in which she should head as far as supplements.

NAC, to prevent oxidative damage and reduce inflammation. She can even nebulize NAC if bold enough.

Thanks for the tip. Any studies that you are aware of? With some of the recent negative posts here regarding NAC, I am hesitant to recommend it. I was going to recommend a more conservative regimen of assorted polyphenols.
