Ok i want to eat as healthy as possible so, what can i do to improve it?
I am 16 years old, have a body mass index of around 18.5-19, and i am about 5' 9".

Breakfast:
1 whey protein scoop
1/2cup oatmeal
1/4cup recooked barley
1 Banana
2+ tbs Cinnamon
Raisins - don't know how much
about 1/4 cup walnuts
2 squares 85% lint dark chocolate

I add the raisins to the oatmeal and cook them, then when the oatmeal is near done i add the cinnamon, then let it cool adding a cut up banana, walnuts, and then the whey protein.
Sometimes i have a salad, or a low sodium V8 as well, but not so often. I also have a large class of cold brew ice tea by Lipton

School lunch:
a small salad which contains broccoli, lettuce, carrots, cheese, small ham cubes, celery, and red beats. I try to add about half the packet of ranch dressing they give, so i get about 15grams of ranch. The salad also contains shredded cheddar cheese. I also eat an apple.

After school lunch:
I eat my salad that contains carrots, lettuce, spinach, radishes, mushrooms, Mulitcolored frozen bell pepper slices, red cabbage, broccoli, blueberries, black berries, some times strawberries as well. For a topping i add quite a bit of mustard. occasionally walnuts are added. I also have 1, or less tablespoons of Skippy peanut butter with a banana cut up and stirred in it. - the salad can get pretty big..

Dinner:
I normally have the same salad, but with out the berries, or less. I also eat 1 kipper snack and have about 200ml - 300ml apple sauce with quite a bit of cinnamon in it. I have a large glass of cold brew tea as well. Sometimes i have tomato soup with Tabasco added instead, my dinner varies the most of all my meals.

Supplements:
1000mg Vitamin D3
Vitamin E - has 2 different types i think
Vitamin B12
Milk thistle
Glutamine
Choline
Fish oil
Turmeric
500mg Vitamin C
4 mg Melatonin w/1mg vitamin B6 IIRC
On occasion i have:
resveratrol,
piracetam
Vitamin B1
--that is all i can remember at the moment, if have any other ones i rarely take them so they probably don't matter to much.

Ok, so what can i do to improve my diet, and supplements? what could i add or take away from my diet? I wonder if i should eat less sugary fruits? or perhaps cut out the peanut butter and banana after school? Maybe Use Adams peanut butter instead, even if its not as good...

Also, am i right in cutting out most all my grains except for the barley and oatmeal in the morning? I don't eat dairy either, but pepper jack cheese in my tomato soup would be really good, along with the the Tabasco. Also, i sometimes have stir fry vegetables fried in canola oil.

Also through out the day, i will have a little chunk of lint 85% dark chocolate, and maybe an apple, some raisins, some walnuts or one or two sugar free pecan delights.

Thanks for your comments on my diet :)

Dude- you are 16 and taking all those vitamins? Stick to whole foods and spices for a while (with the exception of a carntine, vitamin d, and or iodine type supplement). Too many antioxidants might actually be detrimental to longevity. Wait until you are 30-40 and then start to plug the gaps when your cells aren't working as efficient. Also, we might actually have decent sirtuin activators by then.

thats my take.

Everything sounds good to me, though I would drop the resveratrol simply because you are young. I would recommend trying Endangered Species brand 88% dark chocolate... it is much better in my opinion. Sounds like you are likely already drinking plenty of water, but its importance can't be understated.

I haven't taken the resveratrol for a while, but why would it be bad? Would the milk thistle be bad as well? after all it does the same thing doesnt it?

Is that chacolate sold at walmart or a smiths? thats really the only place i am gonna be getting chacolate from...

and as for the vitamins.. i don't see why they would be bad to take, and i can see many reasons why they would be good to take. Why do you recomend not taking them?

You say evaluate your diet but don't explain what your objective is. Eating healthy is not universal for everone. Some need to restrict calories, some need to eat a different mix of macro nutruints than most people. You mention your BMI and it makes me think you might be thin, but I don't know if you want to stay thin, gain weight or eat for your developing body (at 19).

It doesn't sound like a lot of protein to me; mostly whey for breakfast, ham and chees for lunch and I am not sure what protein you get for dinner. Also it is not clear how many ounces of protein sources you eat at each meal. At your age you may want to make sure you are getting enough protein for growth.

What is your concern about grains? Most of the world's population gets energy from grains. Again what is your objective in avoiding grains and dairy (even though you eat cheese in your lunch salad)?

If you eat a pretty restricted diet (low in grains and dairy) because you think it isn't healthy you may be doing more harm than good. Your lunch and breakfast are the same every day. Eating the same foods day after day may actually make you vulnerable to food allergies or intolerencs. Variety is good. If you get bored with eating this way you won't enjoy your meals or stick to your regimine and that may defeat the purpose of having a diet.
