I was watching TV (something that I rarely do) and there was some guy talking about how Omega 6 causes cancer. I supplement with Omega 3, which may contain Omega 6. Has anyone heard of a link between Omega 6 and cancer?

Yes- here is a summary review of the issue -
"Although omega-6 fatty acids are essential for several body functions, they also produce inflammatory prostaglandins that promote cancer growth. It is the omega-3 fats that keep the cancer effect of omega-6 fats in control. So it is vitally important to keep omega-3 fats dominant over omega-6. Not surprising is the fact that the typical unhealthy American diet is low in omega-3 but high in omega-6 fatty acids because typical vegetable oils are high in omega-6 fatty acids. "
But no worries, fish oil contains 13 or more times omega3 than omega6. Fish oil contains enough Omega3 to neutralize the Omega6's in salads and mayonaise, unless you like it, and eat them way more than I do. Some people worry about omega6 in meat. I don't because the omega3 in regular meat is balanced. IE, the ratio of omega6/3 is 2. Some folks think that 2:1 is good, some folks think that 1:1 is better. Meat has omega3 to offset the omega6, vegetable oils do not have Omega3-EPA/DHA to do the offset. And some of them, soy and others have a lot of omega6 causing a lot of damage to folks.
This quote is a quick and simple and true summary, if you want to know more, I recommend using google rather than using the source site.

I would be interested to hear about any supplements which reduce the risk of getting cancer.
Check out the cancer protocols at lef.org to get an idea of what is important to you.
My favorite is LEF's Homocysteine protocol. Its a "two-fer". You get possibly dramatic reductions in homocysteine and
healthy DNA strands. Homocysteine is more likely to be a cause of CVD than cholesterol. So its very important to achieve low levels of homocysteine.
