I would like to take tryptophan with Tyrosine as I believe the Tyrosine will enhance the tryptophan's effect upon depression. I have read in several places that this is a good idea I have also read that it is important to take tryp alone without other amino acids or protein. Is it possible that the intention is take take both but at separate times or in fact do the two not compete for access to the brain?
Thanks,

They are both large neutral amino acids. They do compete.

One common strategy is to take tryptophan at bedtime and tyrosine in the morning, both on an empty stomach.

Take both with a teaspoon of sugar for faster effects.

agreed but honey would be preferable to white sugar... even a little grape juice.

i think if youre taking both in small doses, taking them together wont be an issue.

I am getting my GABA from a Rx only supplement called GABAdone. It containes; Choline Bitartrate, Glutamic Acid, 5-Hydroxytryptophan, GABA, Grape Seed Extract, Griffonia Extract, Whey Protein, Valerian Extract, Ginkgo Biloba and Cocoa. see: http://ptlcentral.co...inpage.asp?id=1

Should this be taken at a different time than the tryptophan or tyrosine? Thanks for everyones help on this.
