I'm 27year old male, trying to create a cost effective regimen that addresses my concerns. I am a drinker, so I want to limit the health effects from that. I have a family history of cancer (skin, prostate, lung), and some heart disease. Besides that, I'm interested in brain health. I also take antibiotics for skin/acne, and I have bad allergies. :D

I fast for close to 24 hours, two times a week. I eat dinner, then don't eat again until the next day's dinner. I can't sleep hungry, otherwise I would try to go through 36hours.

I workout 3-4 times a week, and get 15-30 minutes of moderate cardio almost everyday (riding to work).

I don't calculate my shakes as part of my supplement costs, since in reality its just eating healthy. I also drink hot green tea throughout the day, and sometimes add cocoa powder.

5'7 178lbs

Eating days

early morning------------------Cost per day
SAM-E x1 (400mg)------------------------1
antibiotics, prescription
milk thistle x1 (120mg)----------------0.23
Rplus curcumin 150mg/100mg RALA/Curcumin-----------0.6

breakfast
ortho core x 3 --------------------0.66
fish oil 1tsp 800/500 epa/dha---------------0.4
shake: blueberries, cocoa, whey, pomegranite, flax meal

lunch
ortho core x 3 --------------------0.66
fish oil 1tsp 800/500 epa/dha---------------0.4

post lunch (empty stomach)
probiotic (theralac) ----------------1

postworkout
shake: blueberries, cocoa, whey, pomegranite, flax meal, creatine

dinner
fish oil 1tsp 800/500 epa/dha---------------0.4
milk thistle x1 (120mg)----------------0.23

before bed
Rplus curcumin x1----------------0.6
coq10 x1 -------------------------0.21
antibiotics, prescription

Cost per day 6.39
Cost per month 140 (assuming 22 eating days a month)

Non eating day:

early morning------------------Cost per day
SAM-E x1----------------------------1
antibiotics
milk thistle x1----------------------0.23
Rplus curcumin---------------------0.6

Throughout the day:
sipping hot green tea

Mid day
probiotic (theralac) ----------------1

post workout (dinner time, when I start eating again)
shake: blueberries, cocoa, whey, pomegranite, flax meal, creatine
fish oil x1 tsp----------------------0.4

before bed
Rplus curcumin x1----------------0.6
coq10 x1 -------------------------0.21
milk thistle x1----------------------0.23
antibiotics

--------------------overall cost per day 4.27
--------------------cost per month 34.16

total cost per month : $174

I need help fine tuning this, and hopefully make it more cost effective. A price point closer to $150 or even $100 would make more sense for me, although if my regimen is really strong I won't change it.

Is it ok (is it beneficial?), to be taking Sam-e, coq10, and RALA? I take SAM-E for the mood/anti depression benefits mostly.

I played with it some already, and got it down to 140 a month. Same idea as above, I simply pruned the quantities.

Eating days

Totals (including quantities found in multivitamin)
coq10: 80mg
NAC: 200mg
RALA: 300mg
sam-e: 400mg
fish oil: 1600/1000 epa/dha
silbin phytosome: 360mg
bio-curcumin: 100mg
probiotic: 1 theralac

(changes: -1 fish oil
-1 RALA+curcumin)

Non-eating days
Totals
sam-e: 400mg
fish oil: 800/400 epa/dha
silibin phytosome: 120mg
bio-curcumin: 100mg
RALA: 150mg
coq10: 50mg

(changes: -1 milk thistle,
-1 RALA+curcumin
-1 probiotic)

Are you double-counting? This product is about 13.3 cents per tsp, not 40 cents, although I see you are taking three tsp per day, which would be 40 cents per day.

Also, if your diet is solid you might consider taking 1/2 dose of OrthoCore on your eating days, on the theory that you are getting vitamins and nutrients from your food. This would save you $10/month at least. Many people on here take only 1/2 dose or less.

The Rplus curcumin seems really expensive for what it provides also.

good catch, I did mess up the math on that one.

Not a bad idea about taking half of orthocore, I suppose I was relying on it to provide solid doses of the other nutrients (quercetin, cholophyllin, NAC, etc). I'll think about trying this approach.

I'll look further into options for Rplus curcumin.

Thanks!
