http://www.reference...ople/Religions/
World: People: Religions

Christians 32.88% (of which Roman Catholics 17.39%, Protestants 5.62%, Orthodox 3.54%, Anglicans 1.31%), Muslims 19.54%, Hindus 13.34%, Buddhists 5.92%, Sikhs 0.38%, Jews 0.24%, other religions 12.6%, non-religious 12.63%, atheists 2.47% (2000 est.)

2.47% atheists is much more than I would have expected. I'm sure the 12.63% people in the, "non religious" group wouldn't mind living for ever if given the chance as well.

Christians are less likely to commit suicide, so that may tell you something.

What a wonderful statistic?

I suspect that Christians share our passion for life extension, perhaps more ardently than we do, but are too naive to recognize that The Age of Spiritual Machines or Engines of Creation might be better guides to that end than the Bible. Perhaps as the anti aging and artificial intelligence movements reach critical mass we will witness a mass conversion from Christianity to transhumanism.
