Anyone ever try this noot? Does it really have a stimulant-type effect ?

Picamilone; alert and calm
What can be added to this combination of improved attention and awareness? If there is a need for a small boost of stimulation to awaken alertness and enthusiasm then picamilone could be useful.

Picamilone is a combination of niacin (vitamin B3) and GABA, but it is not just the two thrown into a capsule, rather it is actually bonded chemically to create a unique molecule.

In Russian studies picamilone has been shown to enhance interest in one’s surroundings and stimulate an interest in mental activity (e.g. wanting to think/ work), but at the same time it also keeps the individual calm and controlled. This could be the combination of what we would expect from both niacin and GABA individually, although under normal conditions taking both niacin and GABA together “as is” would be relatively ineffective in this regard, so picamilone does contain properties unique to its formula.

Some of the effects of picamilone have been attributed to its ability to easily cross the blood-brain barrier and stimulate blood circulation, (known as vasodilation) and in this respect it has been noted that it is more effective than hydergine or even vinpocetine.

A dose of 50 mg once or twice daily is normally sufficient for most individuals, particularly when combining it in a synergy program such as the one mentioned here.

I have never tried it but may in the future. I really haven't heard too much about it either as for anecdotal feedback.

Also, for future reference, whenever you quote something be sure to post the source of the information.

Hi Beautiful,
The source behind my highlighted point was clearly cited -- the reference was 'Russian Studies' -- if you cared to read the first part of the italicized, bolded and underlined text. Thanks for the feedback buddy ;).

I found it to be useless. No effect at all.

Man I leave the forum for a few months and when I come back everyone's all edgy and contentious. I'm not sure I'm digging the new feel around here. Anyway, I think Luv was referring to the fact that you obviously copied and pasted everything from the initial title down and he was hoping that you would post that source. And I'm not sure what your scientific background is, but "Russian Studies" is not generally considered citing a source. Either way, its not a big deal in this context since you're just asking a question, but if you were using that info to argue a point that probably wouldn't be sufficient.

Anyway, another tip for those new to the forum is that for questions like this the search function is your best friend. In your case I suggest going up to search and choosing "more search options" Then enter in Picamilon and check the box for "search titles only". Then you'll get a good number of posts on Picamilon. I personally haven't tried Picamilon but I think searching the archives should give you more information on a less common noot like this, than asking around will.

This is an excellent point that seems to be ignored quite often by those whom are new to forums. It is especially relevant because the thread opener is asking for "experiences" rather than something specific like a problem he or she is experiencing or a specific goal in mind that they have for wanting to take it and wondering if it may or may not achieve that said goal.

Good post!
