yohimbine potentiates modafinil-induced wakefulness (Lin et al, 1992) and activity (Duteil et al, 1990)

Has any member tried this combination?

It needs to be tried! We could be on to something here.

Well, yohimbine is a stimulant, so it would be expected to work like that.

Does anyone happen to have these two nootropics at hand, and is willing to partake in a little experiment :|o

Yohimbine HCL gives me fucking crazy heart palpitations that will go on for hours. In fact I think I may have caused permanent damage to my heart from it.

I strongly recommend caution if anyone is planning to try this. This could probably be helpful for reducing the side effects of modifinal (or yohimbine) by allowing for a lower dose in promiting wakefulness. Another possiblity is cycling off modafinil, and using yohimbine for holidays which would be much safer.

Here's some info from wikipedia that may be of interest:

Yohimbine Hydrochloride is a selective competitive alpha2-adrenergic receptor antagonist. The alpha2 receptor is responsible for sensing adrenaline and noradrenaline and telling the body to decrease its production as part of a negative feedback loop.
...
Yohimbine is also said to increase dopamine and have some actions as an MAOI, although these mechanisms are unknown. Yohimbine and Yohimbine bark may also cause vasodilation through endothelin B receptor stimulation and nitric oxide (NO) release.

It is possible that modafinil acts by a synergistic combination of mechanisms including direct inhibition of dopamine and norepinephrine reuptake, as well as orexin activation.

It appears to be possible that they could potentiate each others effect on increasing levels of dopamine and norepinephrine. For this reason I would start with very low doses.

It may be that yohimbine's possible action as an MAOI could be important. This would slow the breakdown of dopamine, norepinephrine, and possibly other neurotransmitters. Combine that with modafinils possible action as a reupdake inhibitor on these neurtransmitters, and the effect may be very powerful with just a small dose.

I believe some people here have tried combing modafinil with deprenyl (a specific MAO-B irreversable inhibitor), which may be a useful combination as well, but also with extreme caution and very low doses.

Yohimbe Bark/Yomhimbine potentiates massive anxiety attacks and and just about the worst feelings I have had in my life. In sensitive people and animals Yohimbine is used to induce anxiety attacks in experiments, again it doesnt affect everyone like this but those that it does know never to take anything with Yohimbine or Yohimbe Bark in it. Most of the new "fat burners" available have varying amounts of Yohimbe Bark in them which is really insane in my opinion. Ephedrine banned and Yohimbine legal, weird in my opinion, granted ephedrine was not very good for you but I would argue Yohimbine/Yohimbe Bark is much worse.

Yohimbine is nowhere near as bad as Yohimbe Bark in producing dysphoria for most people including myself. There are many different alkaloids in the bark that are adrenergic stimulants and mao-inhibitors. Personally I can tolerate the extract Yohimbine quite well but it still produces some minor discomfort.

I have tried the combination though it has been several years. The dose I used was 200mgs. modafinil along with 5-7.5mgs. of yohimbine extract. The effects are somewhat euphoric, great concentration and my cardio was amazing. It increased the intensity and endurance of my runs very significantly.

Thanks bran319 for you experience with the modafinil-Yomhimbine combo. Now we have some validation that the two chemicals are synergistic :|o .

I can attest to the fact that yohimbine induced heart palpitations and dysphoria.

I also recall reading that yohimbine is used to test the efficacy of anxiolytics.

TERRIBLE "supplement."

/Fear Factor contestant #3 just had his multivitamin replaced with 20mg of yohimbine HCL. Will he notice?

20mg is a lot, I was thinking at the lower end of the range 0.5mg - 5mg.

I've survived a 1000mg dose of yohimbine hcl. Yeah, there was some anxiety, but it was off and on. Actually felt pretty good after I got out of the hospital the next day though. Also caused really bad hiccups. Also tried another time after that at ~25mg - minor discomfort/anxiety, no good effects.

I did test with very low dose of both and it did have a noticeable effect on blood pressure and heart rate.

took ~75mg moda 12hrs earlier and ~1mg yohimbine (hcl) , I have an usually a low blood pressure and scored 180/85 90bpm, (didn't fell much mentally)

and Mind you, measuring 1mg from the bulk powder is not an easy task...

I'd be careful with this,

how long until Yohimbine starts to work? I have Yohimbe  Bark Extract (8% yohimbine) which I got off ebay.

Also I have had very promising effects from Modafinil in the past. But a month ago even when I tried a low dose I started to have small tiny red dots all over both sides of my face. This may have been the Steven Johnson syndrome. Was from just 20mg!  I tried 10mg the next day and it got worse. Thus I stopped and next few days it went away.

Can it be modafinil easily replaced with adrafinil? Does it work very much the same? Will it feel the same?            I urgently need something to increase my motivation and going without vyvanse or stimulants is so incredibly difficult. I can go without them but I become unable to do anything with my life. My motivation and energy are atrocious. Just got back some extremelyyy low testosterone and estrogen test results too. Astonishingly low.  So maybe Yohimbine can benefit Testosterone too a bit?

well for your adrafinil question: there is a lot of suggested evidence this might not be good for your liver and you don't get all the benefits of modafinil. You will find plenty of anecdotal evidence raving about both the good side and bad side of adrafinil imo.

You can check out http://www.reddit.co.../wiki/afinilfaqas a good start.

armodafinil is 'smoother' as it does not make you so 'wired' but the effect lasts longer.

But looking at your posts you seem to have issues that you should try to solve first. Else you risk becoming dependent on substances to patch symptoms.

I am no doctor, but I am quite sure if you would raise a thread with your bloodwork, general background / context people might be able to assist you with repairing your foundation (like the testosteron which is apparently low - how low? )

Good luck mate (assuming you are male based on your testosterone focus and username)
