I have been out campaigning. Many times I have been put in the position to explain why it is convenient that all citizens vote (I
didn't want to use the words duty). We are all in the same boat and should be responsible for keeping it afloat.

As to how to select a candidate I have this guide that I use myself.

In the US there are 2 main parties. You are only in control of your vote if you go for one of the 2 main candidates. If you abstain or
vote for a smaller party you are effectively voting for the winner. You are then letting somebody else vote for you.

Candidates are politicians. So it's fair to assume they are scoundrels. They are going to embellish the truth and some outright
lie. You can also assume they are going to damage the country (meaning the people) in some way.

Do your best to figure out which candidate can be trusted the least and has the potential of causing the most harm. Then vote for the
other one.

That's it.
