I received a request to do an interview on behalf of the Institute on CBC's program Wiretap.

I have tentatively agreed to the interview but can cancel if anyone thinks this is not a good program to make an appearance on.

The show has possibly been best described as "a weekly half-hour of conversation, storytelling and introspection, culled from equal parts real-world experience and the warp of Goldstein's imagination."[2] Each show tends to follow a particular investigative theme; titles for past shows includes: "Life Lessons", "Reach for the Top", "Prized Possessions" and "Our Fathers".

The series began in the summer of 2004 as a 10-episode experiment, after which it succeeded to its own regular timeslot. It is recorded out of CBC's Montreal studios. The show has been criticized by some as being too vague in format and its host as boring.[3] Conversely, other critics of the show find the host's deadpan delivery and the blurring of genres is exactly what makes the show such an interesting listening experience. Goldstein regularly references these criticisms to his show by having the guests call him boring, depressing, and monotonous.

Even though it is not a scientific inquiry-type show (and more on the comedy side of things), I think it will be good exposure for Imminst. Reading about the show, I think the audience would be open minded about life extension topics. We are not talking a huge audience here but we haven't had any outside exposure in a while so I think it will be good publicity.

Thanks for all the feedback. (well, I did talk to Caliban personally, he thought it would be a good thing).

I did the interview. The host seemed genuinely inquisitive about the topic. He perhaps thought the idea of living with an unlimited lifespan was somewhat odd, but in general he was very positive. The interview went about 40 minutes and I am sure it will be edited down quite a bit. He asked quite a few questions about the mindset of people who are members/users of Imminst. These were tough because I don't want to speak for everyone. I tried to delineate what was my opinion vs. what others might think. I hope I didn't step on any toes. I will keep everyone informed as to when it will air and where on the web you can listen to it in the future.

How did you come across this? Thats great. What ever you did to get set up for that interview, how can we do more of it? Even if that was the lowest rated show in history and all they did was slam imminst, it seems to me that like they say, bad publicity is still publicity. Im sure it will be great publicity though.

Great news Mind! If you don't mind, can you say if you used your real name or not?

I do hope you at least talked about how we have members from all walks of life, ages, religions, socio-economic statuses--including single members and those that are married with children.

Do you know when your piece will air?

Here is a link to the mp3 of the broadcast.

I did use my real name.

The host is pretty funny in a deadpan sort of way. The Imminst part of the show was edited down to about 5 minutes (the editing was not perfect for logical progression, but sufficient) and it occurs after the 30 minute mark...I think around 40 minutes, right after the host talks with his daughter about being a vampire.

I'm impressed. You're truly a much better on-the-spot thinker/leader , performed way better than Sarah Palin. call Katie Couric now :-D

..oh and reconsider my offer http://www.imminst.o...showtopic=25533
