The new pariah word is "socialist". That is the best epithet left for the right wing to use. It is not a good fit though, because we have not changed a thing since FDR.

Why did they have to dig up an old word? Because liberal and Democrat are no longer derogatory epithets. Obama winning proved that labelling "liberal" and "Democrat" carries no sting at all. So the choices were "animal names", "gutter names", "communists" (used infrequently, very lightly because "communists" is a light year stretch, and lastly "socialist", a huge stretch, but all that was left. Calling Democrats "socialist" because they favor progressive income taxes. Progressive income tax rates have been the norm since the twenties. I bet their favorite times are the times of Charles Dickens' novels.

I hope the Republicans follow Newt's advice and figure out what went wrong and what they need to do to fix it. The need is evident because their choice epithets are without a sting. And even now, the word socialist carries even less sting because now it means someone in favor of a progressive income tax. Be careful how you use words, using an imprecise word frequently changes the meaning of the word.

My advice to you:

Step 1: Go and buy a dictionary.
Step 2: Look up the word "socialist".
Step 3: ???
Step 4: Profit from educating yourself.

Last thing we need here is another die hard (yet angry) Republican calling Obama a "socialist" or "communist". First off, both the Democratic and Republican party are socialist parties. America is a socialist country by definition. Don't get sucked up into the neo-conservative propaganda. If you want a country thats not socialist, then support the libertarian party or become an anarchist. Like George Carlin said, all I'm looking for here is consistency. You can't say the government has the right to build roads while being mad at it for taxing you. Second, Obama and the Democratic Party are not communists, so stop saying that. It's like saying Republicans are fascists (which to an extent is true though).

Ever since Obama won, Republicans have been angrily criticizing him none stop. "The economy fell more then ever when Obama won","Obama is going to destroy the country", "Obama is in favor of a Muslim agenda, so prepare for sharia law" - quote Fox News and conservative radio

The election is over. A liberal African American won. It's time to put our differences aside and work together for once.

I can't understand you. Your post is very incomplete. I think you don't like me. But you didn't support why. You could either disprove what I said, or offer proof of why my post is wrong. Don't you think it is kind of silly to just make some noise and leave? It only makes sense if you think this is a shouting match or a posturing contest. I am not interested in shouting and posturing, I made some points and welcome some counter points. :)
