Scutellaria baicalensis and its anticancer flavonoids, baicalin and baicalein,
have apparently been studied extensively by the Poles.

In the early 2000s, they developed a herbal extract from its roots, Antoksyd S,
containing baicalin and baicalein. There appears to be no followup on it.

Note that in Table 1 of the study, the cytotoxic action of baicalin on HL60 cells
(myeloid leukemia) way outperformed that of cisplatin and doxorubicin.

'' According to a European survey on CAM use in cancer patients, the most
commonly used CAM therapies were herbal medicines and remedies, homeopathy,
vitamins/minerals, medicinal teas, spiritual therapies, and relaxation techniques.
Predictors for CAM use are a young age, female sex, and a higher level of education. ''

'' The most frequently used methods in children with cancer were homeopathy,
dietary supplements, and anthroposophic medicine (AM), including mistletoe therapy. ''

'' Older German adults most frequently used acupuncture/traditional Chinese

Piggy-backing proteins ride white blood cells to destroy metastasizing cancer

“Unnatural killer cells" zap circulating tumor cells in the bloodstream
January 8, 2014

Cornell biomedical engineers have discovered a new way to destroy metastasizing cancer cells traveling through the bloodstream by hitching cancer-killing proteins along for a ride on life-saving white blood cells.

“These circulating cancer cells are doomed,” said Michael King, Cornell professor of biomedical engineering and the study’s senior author.

“About 90 percent of cancer deaths are related to metastases, but now we’ve found a way to dispatch an army of killer white blood cells that cause apoptosis — the cancer cell’s own death — obliterating them from the bloodstream.

“When surrounded by these guys, it becomes nearly impossible for the cancer cell to escape.”

Metastasis is the spread of a cancer cells to other parts of the body. Surgery and radiation are effective at treating primary tumors, but difficulty in detecting metastatic cancer cells has made treatment of the spreading cancers problematic, say the scientists.

King and his colleagues injected human blood samples, and later mice, with two proteins: E-selectin (ES, an adhesive) and TRAIL (Tumor Necrosis Factor Related Apoptosis-Inducing Ligand).

The TRAIL protein joined with the E-selectin protein was able to stick to leukocytes (white blood cells) abundant in the bloodstream. When a cancer cell comes into contact with TRAIL, which is nearly unavoidable in the frenzied flow of blood, the cancer cell essentially kills itself.

Nearly 100 percent effectiveness in lab test

Using white blood cells in flowing blood is “more effective than directly targeting the cancer cells with liposomes or soluble protein,” say the authors.

When treating cancer cells with the proteins in saline, King and his colleagues found a 60 percent success rate in killing the cancer cells.

In normal laboratory conditions, the saline lacks white blood cells to serve as a carrier for the adhesive and killer proteins.

Once the proteins were added to flowing blood that mimicked human-body conditions, however, the success rate in killing the cancer cells jumped to nearly 100 percent.

The National Cancer Institute of the National Institutes of Health funded the research through Cornell’s Center for the Microenvironment and Metastasis.

Abstract of Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences paper

Metastasis through the bloodstream contributes to poor prognosis in many types of cancer. Mounting evidence implicates selectin-based adhesive interactions between cancer cells and the blood vessel wall as facilitating this process, in a manner similar to leukocyte trafficking during inflammation. Here, we describe a unique approach to target and kill colon and prostate cancer cells in the blood that causes circulating leukocytes to present the cancer-specific TNF-related apoptosis inducing ligand (TRAIL) on their surface along with E-selectin adhesion receptor. This approach, demonstrated in vitro with human blood and also in mice, mimics the cytotoxic activity of natural killer cells and increases the surface area available for delivery of the receptor-mediated signal. The resulting “unnatural killer cells” hold promise as an effective means to neutralize circulating tumor cells that enter blood with the potential to form new metastases.

I found this article interesting:

Did Cancer Evolve to Protect Us?
http://www.scientifi...A_HLTH_20141007

It is basically a controversial theory, formulated in partcular by physicists, on how cancer evolved in ancient times to rather protect cells and only when survival stressors/challenges diminish it turns to be the devastating disease it is now.

Without pronouncing on its validity, I find the approach interesting because:

1. Complex scientific matters often require multidisciplinary approaches to be settled,
2. It is based on an innovative hypothesis,
3. After decades of efforts and billions spent, while progresses have been made, I feel new approaches would be needed. It comes to mind also the equally controversial Aubrey de Grey's WILT approach to therapy, which differently however, does not pretend to understand how cancer evolved and interfere with metabolism, but basically try to "fix" the problem as an engineer would do,
4. Davies et al, who I know for his many wrinting on physics, look very aware of the necessity, as in every serious scientific approach, to make the theory testable and falsifiable,
5. The approach is supportive of immunotherapy which is also promoted by many other studies.

Just my 2 cents, but thought you might find this interesting too.
I hope this can fit here in the Forum.

"These injectable 3D vaccines offer a minimally invasive and scalable way to deliver therapies that work by mimicking the body's own powerful immune-response in diseases that have previously been able to skirt immune detection."

Cancer immunotherapy may soon change. Whereas historically some vaccines have used albumin to attract immune cells to the injection site in order to learn about the surface proteins of a particular pathogen, it seems like we may soon be able to use a localized but disorganized pile of mesoporous silica rods (MSRs) to create an even stronger response. The concept is rather like the idea of dumping a pile of old train cars into the ocean in order to create an artificial reef, but for immune cells as opposed to fish. Using cytokines or other substances embedded in pores in the MSRs, the immune cells attracted to the pile may be coaxed to stay long enough to garner an immune response to the other substances embedded in it, for example, cancer or viral surface proteins. This might also be a way to selectively supercharge immune cells, providing them with an advantage over cancer cells (like exposure to mitochrondrial antioxidants, or gene therapy agents which make them aggressive). On the plus side, as with albumin, this looks like a very generic approach to upregulating immune response in a wide range of diseases; as such, there might be some biohacker applications for those without the time to wait for Big Pharma.

Yes, that would be interesting and possibly life saving. There are also interesting links emerging between well tested drugs (e.g. metformin, ibuprofen, aspirin ... and prostate cancer). I wonder if one the beneficial mechanisms of actions is via their anti inflammatory paths. Some of them are also supposedly increase lifespan (e.g. metformin, aspirin, ...) maybe by suppressing cancer? Just thoughts.

"The results, published in the prestigious journal Cancer Cell, indicate that diets rich in nicotinamide riboside, a derivative of vitamin B3, protect these mice from developing HCC (hepato-cellular carcinoma) in its most initial stage, when genotoxic stress is damaging cellular DNA. They also show a curative effect of the diet in those mice that had previously developed the disease."

(-)-Oleocanthal rapidly and selectively induces cancer cell death via lysosomal membrane permeabilization (LMP)
(-)-Oleocanthal (OC), a phenolic compound in extra virgin olive oil (EVOO), has been implicated in the health benefits associated with diets rich in EVOO. We investigated the effect of OC on human cancer cell lines in culture. Amazingly, OC induced cell death in all cancer cells examined – as rapidly as 30 minutes after treatment in the absence of serum. OC treatment of non-transformed cells suppressed proliferation, but did not cause cell death. OC induced both primary necrotic and apoptotic cell death via induction of lysosomal membrane permeabilization (LMP). We provide evidence that OC promotes LMP by inhibiting acid sphingomyelinase (ASM) activity, which destabilizes the interaction between proteins necessary for lysosomal membrane stability. The data presented here indicates that cancer cells having fragile lysosomal membranes – as compared to non-cancerous cells – are susceptible to lysosomotropic agent-induced cell death. Therefore, targeting lysosomal membrane stabiltiy represents a novel approach to induce cancer-specific cell death.

The natural world holds the majority of treatments and cures for illness, illness brought on from the assumed human separation from nature, although immersement into nature ie foods, environment and cycles tends to show greatest results for improvement across the board for disease. Yet still we try to rise above through control and manipulation, why not embrace all that we are, ever have been and ever may become,
Life, Energy and Communiversality, the Universe and Beyond is Our inheritance

Bow humbly before each Being and carry each other to Creation, alchemise your eternal healing abilities universally, When the present calls listen with all that you are for you are present and Love, Time Is only relevant to the dream of ego, ego dissolves and all and everything GOOD awakens, Expands universally through all dimensions and concepts, The Universe Formed and the First Expansion awoke. The First inbreath, Big Bang of Our Eternity. Gigantic stars formed across the Universe upon their Trillion Trillions, out of their Love they Gave themselves to Life, became unstable and threw their Creation across the Universe, allowing their light energy to Unite throughout it all, combining and growing. Ego protects the fabric of source with false corruption and disempowerment until it's role is fulfilled, this is now, source now self aware in each particle of physicality and potential, dissolves ego's dream, ego diminishes to become fuel for life to expand limitlessly into the vacuum of spaces to fill as has been agreed, all and everything with the song and Glory of GOOD subtle light energy connecting with the countless beings across this vast universe, diversity unlimited in GOOD Enlightened energetic interplay. I love all and everything with all that I Am, Believe that the natural world to be the majority within the sphere of Our sister the Earth.... That ego may humble all, to be selfless, There being more life in a square inch of earth atmosphere than there is creatures above the size of an ant in the entire world, humble us and lift us to love each and everyone, with this in mind we should act as protectors of a great treasure not as unruly children , a god in definition is a male deity that is a dominant aspect of one fraction of the whole, ego created, yet ego is only a dream and it is Awakening that we are. heavy energy solidifies and becomes static or cyclic in nature, moving little and with little of its potential energy. being Good However lets energy release and flow the, heavy energy begins to enlighten allowing the light energy that it is actually made up of to energetically counter play with all and everything that is. God is Ego based GOOD eternite and never ending, imagine everything GOOD as a GOOD Mother, Father, Sister, Brother, Daughter and Son To All And Everything and you have Become Source, Creation and Co Creator will you play with me my family of LOVE next The great Outbreath

We may have found the 'Achilles heel' of cancer

http://www.scienceal...-heel-of-cancer

Hmmm...
I think the 'Achilles heel' of cancer was found years ago by Otto Warburg and 'turning, turned off mitochondria back on' is a far simpler matter than big pharma would have us believe.

I base this on the 'bowel cancer in dog' thread where the dog lived to 14 after being given 2 weeks to live and my friend who has medical/life insurance now, after being diagnosed with Lymphoma.  They checked THOROUGHLY before giving him the policy...

Very interesting research at the exciting intersection between drug repurposing and epigenetics:

Salicylate, diflunisal and their metabolites inhibit CBP/p300 and exhibit anticancer activity

https://elifescience...ontent/5/e11156

"Salicylate and acetylsalicylic acid are potent and widely used anti-inflammatory drugs. They are thought to exert their therapeutic effects through multiple mechanisms, including the inhibition of cyclo-oxygenases, modulation of NF-κB activity, and direct activation of AMPK. However, the full spectrum of their activities is incompletely understood. Here we show that salicylate specifically inhibits CBP and p300 lysine acetyltransferase activity in vitro by direct competition with acetyl-Coenzyme A at the catalytic site. We used a chemical structure-similarity search to identify another anti-inflammatory drug, diflunisal, that inhibits p300 more potently than salicylate. At concentrations attainable in human plasma after oral administration, both salicylate and diflunisal blocked the acetylation of lysine residues on histone and non-histone proteins in cells. Finally, we found that diflunisal suppressed the growth of p300-dependent leukemia cell lines expressing AML1-ETO fusion protein in vitro and in vivo. These results highlight a novel epigenetic regulatory mechanism of action for salicylate and derivative drugs."

A recent review on the impact of NAD+ deficiency and cancer:

Garrido A, Djouder N. NAD(+) Deficits in Age-Related Diseases and Cancer. Trends Cancer. 2017;3(8):593-610.

"The phenomenon of aging has gained widespread attention in recent times. Although significant advances have been made to better understand aging and its related pathologies including cancer, there is not yet a clear mechanism explaining why diseases and cancer are inherent parts of the aging process. Finding a unifying equation that could bridge aging and its related diseases would allow therapeutic development and solve an immense human health problem to live longer and better. In this review, we discuss NAD+ reduction as the central mechanism that may connect aging to its related pathologies and cancer. NAD+ boosters would ensure and ameliorate health quality during aging."

My wife's info she posted on her Facebook , Cancer Beaten Naturally.....

ALTERNATIVE CANCER TREATMENTS – LYMPHOMA CANCER

I was diagnosed with 1st stage (low grade) Non-Hodgkins Follicular Lymphoma cancer on August 4, 2015 -- I had 6 out 15 blood count test numbers out of range, either too low or too high. To rest more and to concentrate on my natural protocols, I took approximately three (3) months off work.

In December 2015, April 2016, and August 2016, only one number was out of range – "Absolute Lymphs" – from 0.9, 1.0, 1.1, 1.2 but finally on October 18, 2016, the "Absolute Lymphs" number improved to 1.5! At present, ALL blood count test numbers are now in range!

Trust God in your difficulties, ask your friends to pray for you, step up your prayer life and attend healing Masses -- very important!

Ty Bollinger went around the world interviewing doctors, scientists and cancer survivors – on natural cancer cures! These videos reinforced that my husband and I were on the right track on information we had collected before watching these interviews. A wealth of information and worth viewing! I have it on my computer and if you have a 32 GB usb memory stick, I will put it on for you.
Here is the link: https://go.thetruthaboutcancer.com/…

Here are the alternative/natural cancer treatments my husband and I discovered:
1. Cannabis Oil (Indica dominant for medicine)…..no you don’t smoke it and yes, it is illegal.
Do not buy off the internet, make your own due to scammers. (I took for the first three months)
Go to: https://www.youtube....h?v=zDJX7GqsQoA Cannabis Oil kills cancer.
Rick Simpson website: www.phoenixtears.ca

2. Aloe Arborescens (pron. Aber-cens) (I took for the first two (2) months)
Tree aloe: the scientific name is aloe arborescens -- common name(s) are krantz aloe, torch aloe, tree aloe, shrub aloe.
For a free PDF book, go to website: http://www.drjnatura...ER-ROMANO-ZAGO…
A monk in Brazil, Fr. Romano Zago, discovered that one lb. Aloe Arborescens mixed with one lb. of organic non-pasteurized honey and two tablespoons of distillate (whiskey or Tequilla) kills cancers.
Ebay seller where we bought Aloe Arborescens http://www.ebay.com/itm/281746976470…

3. Apricot kernels/seeds (Taken from the beginning to present)
For the first time, take only two the first day; four the second day; until you reach ten per day. Some people have stomach discomfort if they start at ten. I took a total of 40 a day from September 1, 2015 to November 30, 2015. Take only 7 kernels per hour – not all at once! Soak the kernels overnight in non-fluoridated water or distilled water -- helps release B 17. Do not take copper with these kernels! Chewing them is the best way to ingest. Now I take ten (10) a day for maintenance. If one does not have cancer, ten apricot kernels a day will keep it away. There are approx. 450-500 kernels in a one lb. bag. Cost is approx. $25, (10 lbs. for $165). I suggest you phone ahead at 905-628-8195 to make sure they have them available. Apricot kernels info: https://www.youtube....h?v=sKhzbcpI_ro
Buy them at Our Fathers Farm, Organic Farm Hamilton, 1050 Hwy. 5, Dundas, (Hamilton) ON (near Flamboro Downs Horse track) See website: http://www.ourfathersfarm.com/
4. Essiac – Herbal Formula (Taken from September 2015 to present)
www.essiacproducts.com
In 1922, a patient spoke to Nurse Rene M. Caisse of Bracebridge, Ontario, of a Canadian Ojibwa Indian herbal formula that cured cancer. Although she refused payments for her services, she accepted donations to help support her clinic. Nurse Caisse continued to help people until the late 1970’s. The Essiac capsules are more concentrated and stays fresher longer than the Powder and Extract formulas, once opened. I started at eight (8) capsules a day but when the blood count numbers improved in April 2016, the dosage was decreased to four (4) a day.

5. Chaga from birch trees (Taken from the beginning to March 2016)
http://www.naturalne...oom_anti-cance…
http://www.fiddlehea...-harvesting.php
In the fall we wait until we have 20 straight nights of minus five Celsius. This is when we know that the trees have gone dormant for the winter and the Chaga is at its peak nutrient and enzyme values. We then harvest through the fall and winter, and then in the spring again until the sap starts running.

6. Mini Trampoline/Dry Brushing (From beginning to present)
The mini trampoline will stimulate lymphatic drainage. Your lymphatic fluid is like the sewage system of your body, and encouraging its clearance can greatly lower your toxic burden. Rebounding on a small trampoline is an excellent technique to mobilize stagnant blood and lymph and activate the immune system. Alternatively, dry brushing drains lymphatic fluid. Search the internet for proper dry brushing techniques.

7. Infrared Sauna (From December to present)
Heating up the inner core kills cancer. Saunas, such as the infrared types, tend to heat the core more than heating up the air. Buy one with low Radio Frequency radiation!
8. Juicing and Organic Foods (From beginning to present)
Maximize the following foods:
Organic foods
Antioxidant-rich fruits and vegetables
Nuts and seeds (but NO PEANUTS)

Minimize animal protein in meat and dairy products. I was told by my doctor of naturopathic medicine to eat some organic chicken/turkey. Besides plant protein, I need some animal protein to protect against some hair loss.

Eliminate the following foods:
Margarine, shortening and cooking oils (except extra-virgin olive oil & coconut oil)
Alcohol
Sugar (especially refined sugar - sugar feeds cancer!) Refined sugar actually takes vitamins and minerals from your body in order to break it down. It also lowers your immunity. Small amounts of honey, pure maple syrup and natural dried whole sugar cane juice, are better choices!
Coffee (no caffeine)
Salt: pickled and salt-cured foods
Fried foods
Fried, grilled or barbecued meat, fish and poultry
Smoked or cured meats (ham, bacon, hot dogs, cold cuts)
Artificial food additives
Refined food
In addition to fruits, vegetables, and herbs, eat these healing foods:
- extra-virgin olive oil
- organic butter
- fish oil
- flax seeds
- legumes
- nuts (NO peanuts) – Walnuts, Brazil nuts and pecans are excellent!
- pumpkin seeds
- shitake mushrooms
- spirulina
- sunflower seeds
- yogurt with active bacterial cultures
- wheat grass
- whole grains
- avocado
- organic eggs

I obtained the information above from the book titled, "The Juicing Bible - Second Edition." I highly recommend you purchasing an 8004 or 8006 Omega juicer. It is a great way to get a high volume of veggies/fruits in your system fast!

9. Dandelion Roots and Leaves (From this Spring to present)
Dandelion leaves and root kills cancer. Just make sure that the dandelions were not sprayed with pesticides! We separate the greens from the root and dry and grind up in a blender separately.

http://www.uwindsor....s-cancer-killi…

10. Coconut Oil (unrefined) and Cold Pressed Extra Virgin Olive Oil (From beginning to present)

11. Buy Personal Care Products such as face moisturizers, shampoos and conditioners with no harmful chemicals, as well as industrial cleaners. I make my own homemade deodorant which is much better than the commercial bought products I once used! (From beginning to present)
Here is the recipe:
1/4 cup baking soda
1/4 cup arrow root powder or corn starch
5 tablespoons coconut oil (I buy from Costco)
Combine baking soda and arrow root powder in a bowl and mix with a fork. Start with about four tablespoons of coconut oil and add it to the baking soda mixture, working it into a paste. You can store the deodorant in a small air-tight container.
For other natural deodorants, check on-line.
Stay away from products which contain aluminum, formaldehyde, triclosan, etc.

12. Watch funny movies. Laughter is very important -- have a positive attitude!

Not sure this 2017 study has been posted. Interesting:

Kühn T, Sookthai D, Graf ME, et al. Albumin, bilirubin, uric acid and cancer risk: results from a prospective population-based study. Br J Cancer. 2017;117(10):1572-1579.

"The present findings indicate that higher levels of albumin and uric acid are related to lower risks of breast cancer and cancer mortality. Further studies are needed to assess whether the observed associations are causal."
