It also reduced my fasting glucose.

Rwac,

What was your fasting glucose numbers prior to taking DHEA and what is your current fasting glucose numbers since taking DHEA?

I stopped taking DHEA for a few days, and fasting glucose shot up to 124
Today, it was 93. It will likely drop a few points more.
The only 2 changes I made was re-adding DHEA and ashwagandha.

If you have to ask, you probably don't have to worry about it. :)

Ok, Serious now. You check blood glucose first thing in the morning after waking up.
Optimally, it should be <100.
>100 is not so good.
>125 is bad.

Took 50mg of DHEA daily for a few months. Testosterone dropped from roughly 720ng/dl to 400ng/dl. Stopped DHEA immediately and never looked back. Testosterone had recovered to 720ng/dl when the test was repeated a couple months later.

This is scary! You mentioned in other threads that you have low adrenal function. Did you test DHEA levels before and after you supplemented?? I was considering using it myself for the same reason but I've been hesistant for this very reason.

Normalizing my blood Vitamin D level eliminated the need for arimidex, nettle root, and pygeum. Normalizing my blood Vit D is one of the best benefits I have from supplementation.

Thank you for this information. I was just going to order a blood test for Vit D. I suspect I have estrogen dominance and this is causing male-saggy-tit-syndrome for me. I've been using nettle and DIM and these worked magically for this problem! The gynecomastia is virtually gone. However, I stopped using for a couple of weeks and it came back with a vengeance so I know I have to address the underlying cause (low adrenal function? chronic infection?).

I use pregnenolone 50 mg to enhance memory on a as needed basis. It works like a charm.

Hi Lufega, you mentioned that "been using nettle and DIM and these worked magically for this problem! The gynecomastia is virtually gone.". I have gynecomastia too. Does DIM and nettle really cause the gynecomastia to be gone?

DHEA: I take a low dose (10 mg ) in the AM for mood enhancement. It works rather well for that purpose*

Pregnenolone: I was taking 5 mg but stopped for now; this stuff made me a little cranky and irritable.

7-Keto: I'd try it if it came in a 10 mg strength; nobody makes a 10 mg strength to my knowledge.

*I take the Nature's Plus brand of DHEA. This product is micronized and contains bioperine.

i just start taking DHEA 10mg with no micronized and contains bioperine. micronized and bioperine seem to enhance the bioavability to our body. Have u tried with 10mg with no micronized and contains bioperine?

For instance, if the DHEA converts to estradiol and the estradiol level goes above say 25 pg/mL my prostrate would react and I would take 1/4 of a 1 mg arimidex tablet to knock the level down. Or it might have been too much DHT, so I would have to find a combination of nettle root and pygeum that would alleviate the symptoms. This was tedious, and if I knocked my estrogen too low, I would have to wait a week or so, to recover from the those symptoms.

what do you mean by "my prostrate would react"? i just start taking DHEA 10mg and it seem it makes my prostate balls "shaking" a bit every now and then and I am not sure if this is what you means.

I think everyone reacts differently to dhea and pregnenolone, depending on their hormonal make-up.
What helps one might hurt another. I experimented with both of these and ended up doing damage.
I took pregnenolone 100 mg for years, with wonderful results, but now I recently discovered if I even
take 10 mg of it, my skin breaks out almost immediately. Same thing happens with resveratrol, and I
used to take megadoses of that too.
After 8 years of preg no problem I now can't take even 10 mg without a problem.
I am going for blood tests tomorrow for my preg and dhea levels.

I suggest anyone who wants to use either one should have blood tests before so they use the
appropriate dosage, and then be retested periodically.
I used both indiscriminately and I am now paying the price.
At least with 7 Keto, from what I understand, you avoid the hormonal issue.
Don't mess with hormones. You might end up worse than you started.

I want to try eventually DHEA, 7-keto or pregnenolone to improve cognitive function or mood. Do you guys have any advice? How long should someone take those before being able to conclude if it works or not? Does it have any effect right away or the effect come after a few days/weeks of use?
