As I've heard the only side-effects of tretinoin is burning red skin/irritation, but why should tretinoin be avoided during pregnancy?
What is the reason for that?

Are there any risks of getting blood clots or so when using tretinoin?

As per the absorption studies that have been recently discussed one could assume that there should be next to no risk. Interestingly there seems to be at least one study showing increased risk with tretinoin and most if not all retinoids carry a warning. Systemic retinoids or high doses of vitamin a are highly teratogenic, therefore possible absorption is the only reason for avoidance, not blood clots. That's all I know.

Is the skin response an inflammation-like response?
