"...I've personally been taking a small amount of
Alagebrium Chloride (Generic ALT-711) for the past year..."
How much is "a small amount" of this substance are you taking?
I'm 54 years old and am presently taking 50mg BID - I've been doing so for the past three or four months. I started with 25mg BID a year ago and varied the dosage during this period whilst monitoring any possible effects on both my BP and pulse pressure. The present dosing appears to keep me maintaining the parameters which I set myself as a goal with my most recent readings being 112/70 pulse rate 71.
A relatively recent human trial in over 65's with isolated systoloic hypertension dosing 210mg BID had positive results
hereBesides taking the alagebrium chloride I've made a number of other changes which may also have had a positive effect on my BP. A number of these changes thanks to comments made to me by Paul Wakfer a year or so ago (when my resting values were 144/78 72) - BMI reduced by 10% in the year, introduction of 3 x 25 mins of aerobic excercise and 3 x 25 mins of resistance excercise each week, reduction of high calorie, low nutrient dense carbs., similarly, a reduction of red meat consumption in favour of seafood (mainly fish oil caps!) and chicken and reduction of table salt, alcohol and caffeine intake. I also now supplement with
L-Arginine 700mg BID ,
L-Arginine L-Citrulline complex 1000mg ,
Endothelial defense (good tip from Duke - thanks!) and
Taurine 1000mg BID to keep me more relaxed. Also, a morning cup of hibiscus (roselle) tea
one of many studies here .
A heart scan last month gave me a calcium score of zero which was the same as the previous seven years ago - my family has a history of cardiac issues, hence my interest in keeping mine in good shape.
