Hello,

I have a few questions regarding the different merchandises and services proposed by the foundation. I found: books, roundtables with specials guests,...

I tried to think the foundation like a company who could provide concrete services or merchandises for common peoples like me, to finance your researches. I don't have the knowledge necessary to see what could be the main needs a « company » like the Mfoundation could provide.

For example my sister is architect: once she got for free a very useful tool called « Kutch » only used by professional but she brook it and she has never been able to find out another similar for sell, she had to contact the company again.

Basically I was thinking of merchandise that could be sold to student or professional in research industry. So if you are a researcher, student or any professional in the field, what could be sold under the same of Mfoundation???? With all the people here working for the foundation, what could be the service you could be paid for to earn money (for you but also for the foundation)????

We need something new but what ? Sometime the simplest idea is the best: the million dollar homepage ;)

An unusual goal needs unusual source of funding (not previous idea used for cancer, aids or mucoviscidose...).
The Mfoundation won't reach the final goal tomorrow, that means regular funding and not a few dollars.

I was also thinking of a patented item.

So if an item or a source of funding like that is already in use by the foundation to earn money, sorry for polluted the forum and show me the link.

If not Just List here

Cheers,

Cheers,

I think I know what you mean by patented item. Like say for example, a kit for gene engineering at home and kit for competing in the mouse prize at home, for researchers that know how of course. Im not sure I can think of something that we could patent and corner the market on though, I have a gimmick idea, but not a patent. If you can think of some good possible things then that would of course be a good idea. Maybe you could think of some things to inspire that kind of thinking and then talk about it at one of the brainstorming meetings at imminst.org/meetings .

We can also sell books and merchandise to make money. The cause wont make a lot off that kind of thing now but as it picks up it has the potential to make a lot. If you or anybody wants to set up a merchandise store then I think you can find a free one through the various places that sell merchandise on the net, like mugs, tshirts etc.. Theres an outline for it on line 4.1 of the google doc of life extension exposure expedition projects (leeep) although that outline may be able to be scrapped and you could just do it directly, check the ideas there, some could maybe still use development.

Another idea is good old fashioned fund raisers, like line 3 of leeep

Then there is that million dollar web site idea you sited there, you could start something like that. If you want to outline it in leep then I can help you and help you gain support for it.

The best route though is just to get the cause exposure in general. When we do that then more people will want to donate time, money and resources. To do that then support leeep and other projects in general, especially the campaign bus project.

Which brings me to what I think is a particularily lucrative one. The biggest way I think we can get money and exposure all in one, and supply something unique like your saying, but not exactly an item, is to take a bus for campaigning, and fashion a giant clock onto the side of it, the back of it or on a small trailer that it pulls behind. The clock could have a solid bar minute hand fashioned on it at the 45 minute position for people to hang from and take their picture with as though they were trying to pull back the hands of time. Then two funds slots could be made on the clock, one for sens and mprize and one for supplying the bus with resources. The resources slot could be opened any time and the other one would be sealed shut with the idea being that it will be opened when its full. That will build suspense to see how much it will be. The point of it all is to be gimmicky and iconic for the media to pick up on. I would think that they would pick up on it automatically or with a little effort in contacting them as the campaign bus tours the country giving life extension speeches, handing out literature, stocking all the libraries around with ending aging, and some other things. This is my favorite of all the projects so far. It is the only one that has been transfered to the imminst wiki so far. It needs a team, but you dont have to be on the team to give ideas for and discuss it. Its here: http://www.imminst.o...hp/Campaign_bus

Active members come and go over the years, usually moving on to permanent life extension projects. Over the years there has always only been a handful of active members, but now at the end of 2008 we are gaining a lot more new active members than ever, about 1,500 per year as compared to like 200 per year in the past, and this is helping to inpsire everybody to take more action. That and the life extension cause in general has been picking up a lot every where this last year and a half or so. There is also not many real concrete ways for people to dig in and latch on and help right now, but that is all happening and growing in reality more and more around here. That reality cant grow though with out help from people like you, so please do join us in the meetings at that schedule and we will get you in on everything you are interested in, have time for and want to do. That meeting schedule again is imminst.org/meetings Print that out and post it by your computer.

The d day on aging is going to happen any year now. We need help preparing imminsts battle ship and Higgins boats.

That story of clock made me think of something: Every hourse couting peoples dead of aging and visualising the time running with the clock, saying like "how many time again before action ?"

Thank you for your comments ;)
