Hello

For the past few weeks I have gotten red skin rashes all over my body every time I have showered.( a lot of rashes) They do not itch (maybe mildly) and they are not painful. They disappear after an hour or so. I have not experienced this earlier expect for occasionally many years ago.

I'm really confused what this could be.

I am not allergic to anything as far as I am aware but I have some autoimmune disease in my family, my mother suffers from alopecia and my sister from asthma/allergies.

So I ask all skin experts here, what is this and what can I do to cure it.It isn't much fun if going to a public pool in the future :p .

It could be that the water has some sort of contamination bacteria/virus/chemical in it.

Is there a possibility there's something growing in your pipes causing the problem ?

Try taking a bath with distilled water/bottled water or something like that.

I would think chlorine might be a possibility. Do you have a filter in your shower? You might consider getting one if you don't.

My sister had something like this, the rash was exacerbated by heat (shower)... then calmed down but was usually left with one particular shape rash which you'll see in pictures if you google it. http://en.wikipedia....ityriasis_rosea Though it might be worth going to the doctor. She only had a mild case so didn't need treatment, but there can be so many reasons for rashes. Maybe use another shower.

Do you have a mark like this http://library.med.u...ml/24830096.jpg ?

It is redness like this (but not the raised spots like in the picture above) also it doesn't itch or hurt and disappear after a while.

This definitely can happen if you use an aggressive shower gel.

I don't take any supplements and they appear without any shower gel,it is the water.

It is not "the water", it is something in the water that you are allergic to.

(The male human body is made up of about 60% water; If you were allergic to water itself you would not be able to survive.)

I have been having the exact same problem for the past month or so, and it came out of nowhere. I also noticed that it occurs after exercise on my back if I'm sweating. I have an appointment scheduled, but the soonest I could get in is a few weeks from now. However, I am pretty certain it is something known as heat hives. (http://en.wikipedia....ergic_urticaria)

From what I have read, there is no definitive cause, but a lot of people misdiagnosis it as a food allergy or water irritation. I did the same things, put a filter on my shower, changed up my diet, etc. Apparently the cold winters (esp in the NE, like Pittsburgh -- where I am) can dry the skin out and make this worse.

I was a big fan of taking really hot, long showers, but Ive had to cut them out. Try taking shorter and cooler showers. I also got a humdifier (brough humidity from 25% in my room to the around 40%). Between the shower change & humidifier I have noticed a big improvement. Also, if you can take less frequent showers that may help as well.

Good luck!
