The feeding frenzy around this stimulus package is mind-blowing. I always like the way Brooks puts things in perspective. A level-headed moderate.

I appreciate that you have sourced Brooks, who is indeed a moderate by Republican standards. I agree with just about everything he says here.

He did an excellent job of pointing out the problems with the "Democratic Pork" in this bill, which fails Summers' criteria of being timely and temporary. He completely failed, however, to even mention the "Republican Pork", in the form of a large block of tax cuts, which are neither timely nor temporary. Both sides seem to have larded the bill up with the goodies that they wanted. I'd have more respect for Brooks if he'd been more even handed.
