Hi guys,
Im new here, and hoping for some help.
Im sitting the uk equivalent of the MCAT(the GAMSAT) and im way behind...

I used to always take a caffeine tablet before sports games and i found it helped me concentrate so i started taking some during study recently and it focused me also.
Thats why im here...

Im trying to put togehter a list of things that can help me stay alert and focused to study as hard as i can for the next 6.5 weeks

So far i have:
Good clean diet, low in starchy carbs, could be higher in fruit and veg.
Good Multi - NOW Adam
Vit C
Blueberries every moring with my oats
ZMA
Vit E 200 IU
Cod liver oil

Caffeine

After that I read Duke's great post here http://www.imminst.o...o...t=0&start=0
And im wondering whats the best supplements to take, and where to get them in the UK

Nootropics seem interesting but i cant seem to get a definite answer on them re dosage/effictiveness/source in the UK/Ireland.
Any advice on nootrpoics

Melatonin seems to require a prescription in the UK so would any of these do as well as the prescription drug? Sorry im clueless here...
http://www.iherb.com...px?kw=melatonin

Modafinil seems interesting, but requires a prescription in Ireland afaik. Anything to say on this drug?

Any other essential 'brain food' that could help me get into Med school?

Thanks for the help guys...
I really appreciate your help, every minute is precious :)

John

Kinda seems like this post mostly belongs in the noots section...

For general health, I recommend investing in a good multi (unless you're crazy like me and cobble together each nutrient separately, heh.) People round here, when they can afford it, dig AOR's Ortho-Core: http://relentlessimp.../ortho-core.htm If you want to stick with NOW adam, I would add at least 4000iu of vitamin d3 per day, and a vitamin k2 supplement.

For nootropic purposes, modafinil works well for me, though you might have trouble getting ahold of it (I have an ADD diagnosis). Most people on the boards would recommend a good choline source, either CDP choline or Alpha GPC. Some get great results out of the 'racetam family but it takes a while to start seeing effects and were worthless to me, so YMMV. Green tea has a nice gentle nootropic effect.

melatonin is melatonin, the cheap online stuff is as good as the prescription stuff :)

1+ on the above. I know some individuals who are not ADHD claim ritalin helps them focus, but that topic ventures into the quasi-outlaw zone of study aid. I stick with cholines, omega 3s, coffee, tea, cocoa, etc., myself.

here's my shopping list anyway...

http://www.supplemen...roduct/view/876 alpha gpc
http://www.supplemen...roduct/view/947 orthomind
http://www.supplemen...roduct/view/959 R+ Lipoic Acid with Biotin
http://www.supplemen...roduct/view/526 cocunut oil
http://www.supplemen...roduct/view/944 orthocore

Im really looking forward to the alpha choline. I tend to drop off eery now and again so hopefully this will perk me up...

Now im just wondring if i can just ditch orthomind, the lipoic acid and the alpha gpc and just get the orthocore instead?

Hmmm....
Any idea's?

ok.
Looking at prices, aor is mad expensive...

So im going to go with iherb for:
alpha gpc (Now Foods brand) http://www.iherb.com...540226149984591
R-Lipoic Acid (Doctors Best Brand) http://www.iherb.com...ails.aspx?pid=4
and E.V. Coconut Oil (Garden of Life branded) http://www.iherb.com...s.aspx?pid=3111

Then i'll get the more expenive orthocore from aor europe
http://www.aoreurope...roduct/view/944

2 months supply of that lot for around the €150 mark delivered.

Any comments on the branding?
Is AOR so much better than the other brands for alpha gpc, r-lipoic acid etc?

Thanks for you help!

Eph
