I love this guy's humor. I have to say, Ward Three types have always rubbed me wrong, the same way I despised hall monitors in grade-school and other rule-followers.

I have to admit I don't get the joke. I am on anybody's side who wants to put a leash on out-of-control CEO's. There is just something really wrong about being able to set your own salary without explicit stockholder approval. And not suffer consequences when you do something really stupid. To assume a desire to put leashes on CEO's is particular to Ward 3 is stupid. Most Americans are pissed off at corporate CEO's. When executives of failed/rescued companies insist on bonuses most Americans are disgusted. Another stupid David Brooks editorial.

As far as the David Brook's comment about Obama's bailout being flawed, Obama's bailout is still in discussion. I expect it to get better. Definitely the Bush/Paulsen bailout was flawed.

Republican preference for tax cuts needs to be justified. Reagan was successful when he reduced taxes from 70% to 28% (highest marginal rates). Reagan's tax cut increased tax revenues. Then Clinton fine tuned the Reagan tax cut with an increase to 35%. The Republican predicted fall in gross revenues didn't happen. President Bush's tax cut of Clinton's 35% rate didn't work. The recovery from Bush';s recession was weak and jobless. 30K of jobs a month versus Clinton's 230K of jobs a month. Tax cuts don't have much effect with an initial rate in the 30% range. Republicans need some new ideas, it's too bad we don't have a 90% rate like Eisenhower had, then we could really get a boost from tax cuts.

I love this guy's humor. I have to say, Ward Three types have always rubbed me wrong, the same way I despised hall monitors in grade-school and other rule-followers.

Your disrespect for rules helps me understand anarchists. Hall monitors annoyed me, as a libertarian, but my annoyance never led to disrespect.

Hmm. I guess you were simply more advanced as a 3rd grader.
