Is it safe to take huperzine-a regularly at low doses, say 100mcg a few times a week? I am really not sure how much choline I am getting already. Or would it be better to take a few doses, say, every other week?

It appears as though most of that information is against huperzine-a, but since I already have it in 100mcg capsules and have noticed a substantial improvement when I've taken it, I am just wondering about its safety. How do I know if I'm taking too much? Headhaches, stomach discomfort, lethargy when not taking it? Is there any way to take it over any sort of time span consistently with only minimal risk?

Additionally, perhaps I am deficient in choline because when I take huperzine-a, even just 100mcg, I notice an improvement not just in my memory, but in my feeling of overall well-being, energy, and motivation. Is this a sign of choline deficiency? Most choline supplements appear to be derived from soy or egg-yolks, both of which I tend to eat rarely.
Any ideas or help is appreciated...

Sounds like a great CE for you - as it is for me. Because of its build-up in the system, you should take it everyday, perhaps on the weekdays and give it a rest on the weekends. Too much acetylcholine manifests itself in many ways - mostly non-cognitive enhancing. If for some reason you actually have a shitload of acetylcholinesterase enzymatic activity - then regular supplementation is fine. Almost all people under 45 aren't like that though.

I read on some post that unless you have Alzheimer's Disease, 100 micrograms a day is considered too much - especially if you're reasonably young. Consider every other day or even just twice a week. You could try opening/dumping the caps and splitting the powder in half (to be washed down with water/juice or recapped if you're into that sort of thing). Maybe you can achieve the same benefits/enhancements with 50 micrograms three times a week, or something similarly moderate, to minimize whatever risk there is out there. I guess the way to go about it is take less and less until it doesn't work, then take a little bit more than that.
I tried it (200 mic tabs, broken in 'half') for a bit: daily, three times a week, once a week - a week or two per amount. I liked it best at 100 mics 2-3 times a week. Mixing it with choline citrate led to some over cholination that manifested itself as shattered/chaotic thoughts, and though it was entertaining, it was not necessarily productive. Overall, Huperzine did me alright, but I prefer the choline citrate mainly for their respective interactions with piracetam (at least as I felt them).
Headaches: I've read some stuff about people getting headaches from lack of choline, so it could be due to that. Try upping your choline intake, then you could find out if that's the cause, or if you just need to drink more water or whatever. I've found that a bit of choline citrate mixes up with an ounce cranberry juice just fine. Also, eggs are awesome, consider getting to know them better.
Just guessing, but if you haven't had persistent headaches prior to trying huperzine, I'd bet you don't have a natural excess of AChE.
If you're really looking to find some way to incorporate Huperzine into your diet, you could always go research (maybe just searching on this forum for starters) and post up what you find or decide (so the next time this comes up, an answer will be readily accessible to whoever). The biggest thing that concerned me about huperzine's possible negative effects, which might accrue with regular/long-term dosing (there might be a little bit of risk involved however you go about it), is ACh receptor down-regulation (which could revert itself anyway thanks to neuroplasticity).
Stomach aches: peppermint tea.
Motivation: way complex.
piracetam/choline works great (totally recommended).
others seem to like deprenyl, though I haven't tried it.

zachadelic is right. Should be taken in occasionally, and in moderation, for us young ones.
Choline precursors (citicholine, alpha gpc, etc) are more expensive, but have the advantages of safety (not powerfully and prolongedly screwing with your neural enzymes, whose levels ought to be diurnally rhythmic to support memory consolidation) and having been more researched. HupA is still in the clinical trials stage for Alzheimers = healthy people beware.

That's truly odd. I can notice a difference at 100mcg and a giant difference at 200mcg, taken every two to three days.

I wouldn't take an AchE inhibitor for too long. You might down regulate Ach receptors. So I would say don't take it regularly.
