I was out in the sun yesterday in direct and indirect sunlight for about one hour and my face got mildly sunburned. I put on SPF 85 sunblock, but apparently, I did not layer it thick enough. I did not really notice the burn until late last night / this morning. What should I do now?

Aloe Vera, or you can try making a cup of green tea drink most of it or wait until it all cools down, and use it on your face by putting it onto some soft paper and directly onto your face. You could rub the tea bag across your skin if its not painful. There are studies on pubmed showing GT can have a good effect on preventing damage to the skin. I'm sure others can think of other ways though.

1. Ibuprofen or Aspirin every four hours (until you reach maximum dosage for that day) will decrease inflammation.

2. Heliocare 7.5 mg per kilogram can decrease inflammation, limit damaging enzymes, lipidperoxidation and protect collagen and elastin.

3. topical green tea polyphenols (Topix Replenix with caffeine seem popular with derms) niacin myristate or niacinamide can be anti-inflammatory and may enhance natural DNA-repair even after exposure.

I have found this product to be very helpful in reducing the effects of sunburn
I rarely get burned but my red headed niece recently did and used this every hour.
After a few hours the redness started to fade. I believe the mechanism of action is MAP
(MAgnesium Ascorbyl phosphate).
